An issue that has been highly debatable in the recent years are the gun laws. Many believe that due to recent events that the gun laws should be changed. On the other hand, people believe that guns are not the true issue and want to keep the laws the same as they are. Both sides have very strong evidence to help support their claim. They discuss issues such as mental stability, the Constitution, and the type of gun that is legal to own. Those that are in favor of changing gun laws believe due to recent events such as Sandy Hook, The laws should ban gun ownership to a citizen unless they are certified to own one. The citizens that oppose changing gun laws are saying people need self defense and bring up the recent Boston Bomber incident. Those that are trying to change the gun laws are saying that the Constitution was written a long time ago and needs to be updated about a person’s self defense. Those who are against change are saying that the Constitution cannot be changed because the guns aren’t to blame but the people that are using them. Finally, the type of gun a person can own is a huge issue between both sides. Those who agree in changing the laws are saying semi automatic guns should be banned. While those who are against changing the laws are saying semi automatic guns can be used for hunting and sport. The only way to reach a compromise between both sides are to have a proper vote throughout the Untied States and come to a conclusion on what guns should be banned.
Those who believe in changing the gun laws are saying that due to recent events these laws should be changed. Sandy Hook was an elementary school that was attacked by a gunman. This gunman took the lives of twenty students and six adults. He was carrying all le...

...oth sides, a country vote needs to take place. The amount of US citizen will help both sides show what the correct answer is when it comes down to changing the laws or not. If people feel threaten by someone who owns a semiautomatic gun, they can voice their opinion on a vote. When all these votes are counted up, that should be the final say if guns should be ban, what types of guns can be ban, and if the Constitution of the Untied States needs to be updated.

In The United States of America there are lots of problems that are plaguing our nation. Gun Control is a problem that there is lots of controversy over. This is a problem that had a fire reignited under it when on December 14, 2012 a school in Connecticut was attacked. Many legislative bills have been introduced since then. (Focus of U.S Gun Control Shifts to States Year after Newtown Shooting) There are lots of issues that we have in our community with Gun Control that we have controversy over: background checks, age, classes, military guns, pistols, shotguns, and rifles. All of these things are apart of the plague in our Nation.

“A well-regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.” The right of all Americans to bear arms is a right the Founding Fathers held to equal importance as the Constitution itself. Gun control laws directly violate this right and therefore should not even be under consideration. Even if that issue is overlooked, gun control advocates state that in order to reduce firearm related violence, gun control laws must be implemented to remove the violence caused by firearms. Although this may seem reasonable, the consequences of such laws are ironically counterproductive; they exacerbate the problem instead of fixing it. Besides the fact that the American Constitution guarantees its citizens the right to bear arms, the idea of restricting gun ownership in order to reduce firearm-related violence would ultimately fail given the previous experiments of gun control in England and in numerous states.
Another aspect of this debate is in fact, the lobbyists that are pushing for more lenient or tighter gun-laws. It seems that the lobbyists that wanted stricter firearm-related laws are the ones who have witnessed the damage that criminals and the mentally unstable can really do with a gun in their hand. Those pushing for leniency when it comes to gun legislature state that firearms are trying to protect their right to carry an essential tool for those who want to venture the countryside in search for animals to shoot down for food, clothing or sport. The last aspects of the controversy are the federal and state laws that have decided whether or not concealed wea...

An estimated 30,000 people are killed each year by guns in the United States alone according to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (Gun Control, Funk & Wagnall’s). Though there have been some restrictions and laws placed, both the conservative and liberal sides are not pleased with either the lack of action or the fact that there has been too much action that has taken place. “About 38% of U.S. households and 26% of individuals owned at least one gun, with about half of the individuals having 4 or more guns, according to a 2004 survey by the Harvard School of Public Health (Gun Control, Funk & Wagnall’s).” Both sides turn to the one document centered on the argument for evidence to support their side: the Second Amendment.

The shootings that have happened in the schools throughout the Unites States over the past few months have created a great divide among Americans on what we should do as a nation to prevent further shootings from happening. Many people believe that imposing new laws on purchasing weapons by requiring background checks, holding adults responsible for the actions of their children and requiring gun locks on weapons to prevent children will stop these massacres in our school from happening. There are many issues that need to be looked at in order to decide which laws are necessary.
Is scary to think about family members or close friends dying innocently because they were victims of a gun shooting. The recent shooting at a 7-Eleven store, across from Cerritos College, has many people talking about gun violence. In America, on of the biggest issue is gun violence. Throughout the years, the gun violence in America has been increasing. Most of the time, the shootings occur at schools, stores and at public places where lots of innocent people get injured or dies. When a shooting happens, the news reporter, social media or at the front page of a newspaper talks about the problems with guns. There are two sides in this gun debate, one is making more laws and the other is more guns. Individuals must consider which side of the debate offers the greatest gain for the least cost. Looking back to laws, making more laws will not work because individuals will break the rules. Many will not stop until they own a gun, legally or illegally. Even though, some individuals do not favor the right to own a gun, owning a gun will determine the live or death of an individual by making sure the individual is safe. Having the right to own guns might help save more people’s lives because a gun will be a really good source of protection. In terms of the gun debate in America, individuals should prioritize personal liberty because having more guns people might feel more safe and protected.
government should have a clear indication as to the positive and negative externalities of legislative action. Mostly, gun reform has led to success in abating gun violence, by reducing overall death rates. Perhaps if the U.S. government followed in the footsteps of other countries, gun violence could be greatly reduced. However, legislative action also requires political consideration, which makes laws much harder to enact. Since the government tries to appeal to the majority of the nation while still trying to do what is best for the nation, controversy and conflict arise. However, it is apparent that action needs to take place, the degree to which this occurs can be up for debate. Along with proof of benefit from other countries, the U.S. should create legislation that will appeal to both sides of the political battleground: a balance between preserving the right to bear arms and protecting future generations from unnecessary gun violence. For the only way to make progress is via change, and a lack there of it will guarantee
