The article “How Do Consumers Search for and Appraise Health information on the World Wide Web?” is a qualitative study using focus groups, naturalistic observation, and in-depth interviews as a method of data collection. The objective was to describe techniques used by consumers for retrieval and appraisal when they searched for health information on the internet. According to the researchers, Eysenbach & Kohler (2002), “a total of 21 users of the internet participated in three focus group sessions. 17 participants were given a series of health questions and observed in a usability laboratory setting while retrieving health information from the web; this was followed by in-depth interviews.”
Little research has been done about how consumers retrieve and access health information on the web. Participants in the focus groups and the observational study were volunteers recruited through newspaper advertisements seeking people who had already searched for health information on the web. They were selected on a first come first served basis. They held three focus group sessions with 6-8 participants each (21 participants in total: five men, 16 women; mean and median age 37, range 19-71 years) in March 2001. Self reported internet experience of the participants ranged from 17 to 84 months (mean 46 months; median 42 months). Each session was facilitated by a skilled moderator and lasted about two to three hours. The aim of the focus groups was to identify the needs, expectations, and problems of consumers with respect to health information on the internet, with emphasis on how consumers appraise the quality of such information (Eysenbach & Kohler, 2002). The focus group sessions were audiotaped, videotaped, and transcri...

Quantitative and qualitative research methods are the two central methods for conducting research. Although there are both advantages and disadvantages to each of these research methods, many researchers decide to merely utilize one of the methods, without exploring the other method at all. This is a problem as these researchers only get to analyze their research from one point of view rather than from differing points of view. In other words, these researchers will solely rely on numbers and statistics
The Importance of the Research Process Introduction From the simple experiments of early scientists to the advanced methods of modern day scholars, people have asked questions and used research to find the answers. Plano Clark and Creswell (2010) define research as “a process of steps used to collect and analyze information in order to increase our understanding of a topic or issue” (p. 4). Through this process, researchers pose questions, find answers, and share results in ways which advance knowledge
There are also some questions that might be answered by this study including what are the areas wherein utilization of skills of the OT practitioners lacks and how satisfied the practitioners are once in school-based setting. As assigned, a new competency model for the design engineering roles for the Spray boat need to be designed from scratch for the company of Sunsailors. The two new roles for the current Spray boat work are Chief Design Engineers (CDEs) and Junior Design Engineers (JDEs). Two of CDEs and ten of JDEs need to be recruited within two months’ time. Notably, there were similar design engineering roles existed before in Sunsailors company which is the Wave boat. Though some aspects are similar to the current
If we talk about undocumented immigrants in United States, we usually focus on the benefits and jobs they take from our country, but have we ever stood in their shoes and imagine what life is like for an illegal immigrant? To live as an undocumented immigrant is a bad situation, but I believe to be a child of an undocumented immigrant is even worse, because their choices are limited and they are unaware of their rights to attend colleges. In this research, I will focus on undocumented immigrant students
Clinical alarms hazards threat hospital settings. There were “566 deaths related to monitoring alarms” reported from a separate Manufacturer and User Facility Device Experience (MAUDE) database (Cvach, 2012, p. 269). Pelletier (2013) reported one of the biggest contributing factors to patient deaths was related to “alarm fatigue” (p. 292). The purpose of this paper is to review research and explore best practices to support alarm management and the prevention of alarm fatigue and patient harm

Is differentiated instruction necessary to meet the needs of all levels of learners within the environment based on learning styles, interests, and readiness levels? Differentiated instruction involves daily assessment, either formal or informal, lots of planning, and a classroom of learners working together as a community (Tilton, 2001). Differentiated instruction is a learner-centered instructional design model that acknowledges that students have individual learning styles, motivations, abilities
Luctis Cogitatio and Noctis Reflectio as the Forms of Consciousness and Human Exploration of the World ABSTRACT: The task of philosophy in the modern world consists in the construction of a methodology of self-consciousness and self-development in the person-the method of human knowledge. I suggest a binary approach to the development of human reason which is able to understand both the world and the place of the person in the world. This allocates two spheres and two forms of consciousness:
