Declaration of Independence was written, by Thomas Jefferson on July 4, 1776 when United States thirteen colonies claiming their separation from Great Britain. Today, there are still many issues people been debating on. I believe that immigrants and gay/lesbians should have equalities and independence of their own. Three articles I am going to talk about are “Queers”, published by the anonymously by Queers on June 1990, “An immigrant Manifesto” written by Jorge Ramos, and the last is “Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Address at Seneca Falls (1848) and Seneca Falls of Seneca Falls Declaration of Sentiments and Resolutions (1848).” Queer is another term for sexual minorities which consider gay, lesbian, bisexual and transsexual. The article on “Queers” is about how queer people can do whatever they want in society and nobody is to judge them at all. Straight people can live without fear, be on television, don’t have to hide and many more. But they are writing the opposite groups of people which refer to the queers which they live with fear and hiding their true identity to the society. I agree when “being queer is not about a right to privacy; it is about the freedom to be public, to just be who we are. It means everyday fighting oppression; homophobia, racism, misogyny, the bigotry of religious hypocrites and our own self-hatred.”(Queers, iii 79) Queers are human too so, they should have the same rights and values of any other people. Where is the right to autonomy for them? Human rights are based on freedom and having the dignity to do something they like without being judge by majorities. They were first people to blame when the AIDS started to spread. It has also been a painful situation for them when two males or two females walking do... ... middle of paper ... ...eone say something funny or dressed differently, people would say “you are so gay”. The term is often misuse a lot. The declaration of independence (July 4th, 1776) asserts “that we are equal.” It means no matter what race, gender, sexuality, religion, or color, we a human being are created the same with equal benefits and opportunities. The declaration was one of the most powerful and leading statements ever occurred in history created by Thomas Jefferson. Everybody should have the privilege that allows them to do whatever they want if no crime is committed. They should live life without fear and be happy who you are. Both authors are expressing their feeling and emotions towards these debating issues. Supporters of these groups write, sing, and protest. Some people will even get arrested because of how they have so much bitterness to this to show their hold up.
