Comparing Two Articles on Abortion

The two articles were selected under the same subject “abortion” which is summarized together. The first article summarized on “Women No More Likely to Seek Mental Health Care after an Abortion than before, study finds” taken from popular medical online news, Medical News Today. Second article summarized on “Increased MMA concentration and body mass index are associated with spontaneous Abortion in Brazilian women: A pilot study” by Elvira M.Guerra-Shinohara, Perla M. Pereira, Ananka M. Kubota, Thaiomara A. Silva, Jucilene L. Reis, Gerson S. Miyashita, Vânia D'Almeida, Robert H. Allen, and Sally P. Stabler, taken from academic journal Science Direct. Both of these articles are compared in term of its information format and information content. It examined and explained the similarities and differences between popular and academic article from many aspects. All the aspects from both articles are summarized here.

Firstly, in term of information format, the differences will be seen in many perspectives such as authoritativeness, author credentials, objectives/purpose, methodology, data collection, findings, references, sources/originality, presentation and lastly, language.

For authoritativeness, on Article A, it not stated any author or writer’s article. It not stated the author/writer’s name at the heading on this popular article. Compare with Article B, it have nine authors, who the professors from departments of medical, pharmaceutical and biosciences from various universities, which is Elvira M.Guerra-Shinohara, Perla M. Pereira, Ananka M. Kubota, Thaiomara A. Silva, Jucilene L. Reis, Gerson S. Miyashita, Vânia D'Almeida, Robert H. Allen, and Sally P. Stabler. It clearly stated at the front heading on this article.

Both articles give the audience on how the abortion occurs. In various aspects like the lifestyle and environment will be effect the pregnancies’ abortion. It gives the clear information how pregnancies women should care their first trimester of pregnancy. In the aspect of keyword, both articles are stated the keyword to make reader/audience feel easier when looked up on these articles. So they can find the important information through the appeared keywords.
