Today’s commercial and communication technology is far reaching. The world has become much smaller as technologies grow and allow people to communicate with others anywhere in the world.
Commercial usually means profit. And for a business to profit it has to provide something the public wants. Technology today is in high demand and people want more and they want it as fast as possible. Instant gratification sells well.
Commercial communications are in extreme demand and these applications range from phones to instant messengers. Smart phones rule the industry now with more being introduced every day. It won’t be long before a smart phone is all that is offered; regular phones that simply make phone calls and nothing more will be obsolete. These phones put communication at your fingertips; you can call text and/or video chat on them. Send and receive files in a split second. The world in an instant!
The technologies that make all this possible are the internet and cell towers that carry signals back and forth. The physical cell phone must have software that allows users to connect and so this is a part of the technology as well. The newest on the market at the moment are the Android OS phones. These phones give the iphone a run for its money, as they add new capabilities in a smoother operating system. Individual persons can profit off these phones by making ‘apps’ that customers buy to install on their phones. Profitability is high in this market. As more is demanded, more and newer technology is needed so there seems to be no end in sight in this area.

As the organization Aiim states in a recent article. “…we know more about what our high school girlfriend had for dinner than what is going on within our organization?" The bottom line: "How can it be that I am so powerful as a consumer and so LAME as an employee?"” This is the impact social media has had on the world. Personal and business blended. The future is some sort of meld of the two worlds. Employers will be using social networking to engage employees and to keep them up to date. The future is right now; what once was science fiction is now reality and the future beyond this is above our wildest expectations.

Convergence in Technology The concept of a “global village” or a united community around the world has only in these last few years become a concept widely thought of. However, it seems that the idea of a large-scale sharing of information has long been developing, whether intended or not. The tools of communication have long served a single purpose, that of transmitting information from people to people. Direct communication was long ago realised with sign language and speech, but when people
Internet are different, their evolution are most definitely parallel. This section will discuss some of the history.
