Clean Eating
Eating clean is simply stripping your diet with unhealthy foods. It is not a diet but a lifestyle choice wherein you only eat whole, unrefined, and unprocessed foods. This allows you to eat more and weigh less by making smart food choices. Eating clean can lead to proper nutrition, weight loss, and disease prevention. The concept of clean eating may seem to be overwhelming at first, especially if it involves a lot of changes. Taking it one step a time and incorporating it gradually can help you ease into these changes. Don’t beat yourself up when you make mistakes or gone off the rail for a few times. All it takes is the determination and patience knowing that you can eventually live a much healthier life than ever before. The keys to good health and proper nutrition are in the following concepts:
Cut down on alcohol
Several studies show that moderate consumption of alcohol has some health benefits such as raising good HDL cholesterol and warding off dementia and Alzheimer. It is essential that consumption will stay moderate since excessive alcohol can affect your li...
Researchers state that binge drinking can cause death and disease at a rate of 3.7% and 4.4% respectively all over the world (Hermens at el.,2012:1). Apart from this, further research indicates that alcohol contributes to negative outcomes that kill or disable people at a relatively young age (WHO,2011:20). This can give a result that many people can loss many
When alcohol is consumed, an enzyme called alcohol dehydrogenase metabolizes the alcohol to acetaldehyde at a rate of one standard drink per hour (Schuckit, 2009). After repeat exposures, tolerance may develop as a result of adaptational changes in the cells of the central nervous system (Merck, 1999). The increased tolerance may cause the patient to consume alcohol in greater quantities than before to achieve the same intoxicating effects. Alcoholics suffer dramatic long-term health damage. The most common forms of specific organ damage in alcoholics are cirrhosis, peripheral neuropathy, brain damage, a...

Alcoholism accounts for more than 15% of health care costs in the elderly. It is associated with an estimated 100,000 deaths per year in the United States. Alcohol consumption can produce both benefits and risks. In terms of benefits, men who drink two to six alcoholic beverages per week have decreased mortality rates and lower cardiovascular disease when compared with abstainers. On the negative side, two studies of 300,000 men demonstrated increased mortality among those consuming more than 2 to 3 drinks daily. Women, are more affected by less alcohol than men, perhaps because they have a lower blood volume, and so it’s distribution and decreased activity for gastric alcohol dehydrogenase are increased.
Drinking alcohol in moderate amounts does have positive effects on the body. In the article, “Alcohol: The Benefits of Moderate Drinking” from fitday.com, the author talks about the benefits from drinking alcohol. Drinking alcohol in moderate amounts help reduce stress, anxiety and tension. Small amounts of alcohol can cause stress reduction. This makes the person feel more relaxed and easier to be around. ...5). If a person drinks on occasion it can be a benefit to a person’s health, but excessive drinking increases the risk of health issues such as liver disease, heart disorders, certain cancers and high blood pressure.
Maintaining a healthy diet has many positives that go along with it. Like me, when I eat healthy, I feel more energized and more motivated to accomplish everyday tasks. Though feeling fit and motivated is important, for some, the main concern is their appearance, which is normal; but they do not understand that nutrition is the main contributor to weight lose. By eating clean, one will become the desired shape they strive for. As gym owner and personal trainer, Joe Howard, says, “Abs are made in the kitchen, not in the gym.” This goes to show that even if one goes to the gym and pushes themselves to the limit, they will not end up with their desired figure if they do not eat healthy. Other than appearance, there are many positives that come from eating healthy. In an article about why proper nutrition is important, Case Western University lists many positives such as; the delay of aging, boosting of the immune system, limit tiredness and fatigue, and even enhance one’s ability to concentrate and alter mood (Why is Proper 1). These are just some of the rewards from eating clean. In order to maintain these benefits, it is important to understand what to fuel one’s body with and the reasoning behind

Alcohol is a common consumption for a lot of people some more than others. Alcohol-associated cognitive impairment has negative long-term cognitive effects and impairments on our brains. Lucky enough for me, I have never had a family member or friend that has or currently deals with Alcohol-related dementia. With that said, I have no personal experience or knowledge on anything alcoholic related, but since entering college I have seen some people always turning to alcohol to help calm stress or to drink their “problems” away. Since entering this class I have learned a lot about different disorders and how popular co-occurring disorders actually are and with that comes a person’s mental health. Those who suffer from co-occurring disorders usually
Health problem and drunk driving hit the list. Alcohol interferes with the brain’s communication pathways, and can affect the way the brain looks and works. In addition, alcohol causes the pancreas to produce toxic substances that can eventually lead to pancreatitis, a dangerous inflammation and swelling of the blood vessels in the pancreas that prevents proper digestion [3]. Not only that, alcohol can also increase the risk of developing certain cancer. But almost every drinker knows these horrible diseases above, then why they never stop drinking? The point is, a short-term alcohol consumption does tiny harm to human’s body, only long-term alcohol consumption can impair the body badly. Nevertheless, the contradiction is apparent to find out: when a drinker finds that there is something wrong with their health, it is too late. And in a drinker’s early life, they can not completely realize which kind of damage that alcohol consumption can lead because they were healthy at that time——at least on the surface. Alcohol just like a chronic disease, making drinkers less vigilant, and brings on severe health consequences in the end.
According to medical daily, “Results of a Dutch study showed that healthy adults who drink one to two glasses per day have a decreased chance of developing type 2 diabetes, in comparison to those who don 't drink at all” (medical daily). Moderate drinking also protects against cardiovascular diseases by raising the level of high-density lipoprotein. Alcohol consumption improves factors that influence blood clotting, such as tissue type plasminogen activator. These changes could block arteries in the heart, the neck, the brain, ultimately many heart attacks and most recurrent types of
