When going to work in a rural area there are many things that need to be considered. One job that a starting social worker may take would be in the area of activism in the community. Community activists are present in many organizations and even work in many rural environments. One good example of a rural area that has community activists is Jay County. In order to transition to a new job in a rural setting it is important to look at all areas of life. Some of the areas that should be looked at are the setting, job and community, geographic and physical environment, the challenges and rewards that are involved in rural setting and steps to prepare so that the transition can be accomplished more smoothly.
Setting, Job and Community

...r lives were like. They found that 86% of the resilient children seemed to doing well as adults and compared with non-vulnerable children had a higher rate of reporting to be happy. However, they did record high amount of health problems such as dizziness, back problems for men and pregnancy, childbirth for women. In addition, other children from the vulnerable group reported significantly better results compared to their teenage selves e.g. going back to school, getting a job etc. the study proves to show that children can grow up to be competent members of the society even if born into impoverished environment and under stressful situations as long as there is a balance between the environment, stress and support. she suggest early intervention programs and nurturing environments for children in vulnerable conditions to improve the child’s development in future.

Big Creek People in Action, Inc. (BCPIA) was founded in 1990 to address economic problems facing McDowell County in West Virginia after the economy of the county started to fail when coal production declined (Big Creek People In Action, Inc., 2012). The agency is a nonprofit 501(C)(3) organization offering a community center where festivals and community events are held and a place of learning that offers GED programs and other educational programs.
Edith Groberg, a developmental psychologist, argued, “resilience is importance because it is the human capacity to face, over come and be strengthened by or even transformed by the adversities of life” (1995). Resilience makes it possible for young children to face, overcome and even be strengthened when they are facing challenges in lives. When young children learn to manage difficult experiences, it can make a huge difference to their immediate and long-term success and wellbeing (The Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne, 2013). One of the educational targets in the Victorian State Government is that children are happy, healthy and resilient (State Government Victoria, 2017). Poverty is poverty, but is it really the same? Although there are more people living in poverty in dense, urban areas compared to those living in sparely, populated rural areas, there are significant differences. According to United States Department of Agriculture, poverty rates increase as counties become more rural ("Rural Poverty," 2013). When it comes to poverty there are too many issues to be examined. However, the disparity between education, employment, healthcare and family living circumstances are major contributing factors affecting rural poverty.

Living in a remote area has always been thought to have negative influences on the individual. There are 35 % of the total population in Australia living in rural area(Phillips, 2009).Rural areas in Australia and all over the world are not geographically isolated and disadvantaged only but also culturally and economically deprived which has great consequences on the health status of the population. The main two factors that have a major effect on rural health are socioeconomic status and cultural issues(Beard, Tomaska, Earnest, Summerhayes, & Morgan, 2009).

Access to healthcare is limited in rural areas. Also, these settings are usually geographically remote, making it harder for physicians to attend continuing medical education activities. EBM may have particular relevance and advantages for rural health practice. In Australia, the level of clinical knowledge was found to be low among rural practitioners. The evidence-based approach is imperative in a setting where resources are limited because this approach emphasizes the use of treatments with proven efficacy. The practice of EBM enables health service managers to determine services that will give the greatest benefit to the community served. However, there are challenges in adopting EBM in rural practice. These include greater time pressure, inapplicable standard clinical guidelines, poorer access to research databases, isolation and lack of organizational support and resources. Rural practitioners also tend to be generalists; their breadth of practice makes implementation of EBM challenging. There has been little empirical research on the processes that drive the adoption of EBM in this setting. This study is part of a larger project, the Frontline Equitable Evidence-based Decision-Making study (FrEEDoM), which aims to develop an intervention to assist doctors in retrieving evidence to assist clinical decision making. A person can choose to work in the Child & Family Welfare System. Social workers who work in the Child & Family Welfare System can choose to work in a private or nonprofit agency. Most people in this field primarily work for county social services. People in this field usually work as child protection specialists, intake specialists, case managers or as adoption workers to name a few. Social workers are also needed in law enforcement, corrections and justice systems. Social workers in this field can work with both youths and adults. Working in law enforcement, corrections and justice systems the social worker plays a direct service role such as staffing group homes and treatment programs. They also can work as probation and parole officers. If this is the field a social worker wants to work in, they should consider getting a minor in corrections. The Healthcare field is another area that a social worker can choose to pursue. A person can work in a hospital, clinic, home health care, public health, hospice and mental health. In the health setting a social worker can also work in a nursing home, chemical dependency programs and even in rehabilitation facilities. In the hospital settings, the social workers deal with people of all ages,
Every time a person goes to the store and buys some food that food was grown by a farmer or contain ingredients from the farmer’s crops. A farmer is a good job because the work they do helps to provide the world with food. Without farmers many people would go hungry not knowing how to grow their own food. Without farmers many other products other than food would be gone. Farmers work hard long days and often go unnoticed; however, without them life would be much different.
