The significant role of employees in attaining the goals and objectives of the organisation has been recognised both by practitioners and scholars (Floyd & Wooldridge, 1997; Li, Guohai & Eppler, 2008; Fox, Donohue & Wu, 2007). The change in the appreciation of the role of employees in organisation has been precipitated by several factors, but one of the most important elements which have influenced the change is globalisation. Globalisation is a contemporary phenomenon (Soros, 2002). It has influenced almost all facets of contemporary life (Morgan, 2003). As such, it has been defined in several ways (Suarez-Orozco & Qin-Hilliard, 2004). However, the common understanding of globalisation is that it concerns economic changes adopted by nation-states as they enter the global market (Soros, 2002). Globalisation is generally understood as the removal of economic barriers to trade among nations, thereby, allowing the freer movements of goods, services, products, capital, knowledge, foreign investments and people (Soros, 2002; Balakrishnan, 2003; Fischer, 2003). It has been noted, that as globalisation drives economic changes, changes in the economic policies and fundamental principles underlying nation-states economic trading relations with other countries are also undertaken(Peet, 2003).
In this regard, through globalisation, the global market economy has been opened, thus, making the world accessible and smaller at the same time. Since, “Through globalisation national borders are constantly losing their significance as limitations for human interaction in general and economic collaboration in particular. This means that for all economic actors their natural spheres of activity are expanding from national into multinational or eve...

The company was first started, as a distributor of Tiger running shoes from Onitsuka Co. – Japan, Kobe, by a partnership between Bill Bowerman – a respected track and field coach at the University of Oregon - and Phil Knight – a talented middle-distance runner in Bowerman’s track program - in the United States, 1964, and the company was named Blue Ribbon Sports (BRS). The company started by selling the running shoes from the trunk of Knight’s car while Bowerman ripped apart the running shoes, looking for ways to improve it – making it lighter and better. As they both had full-time jobs, there were difficulties in managing the company, thus, they employed Jeff Johnson, the first full-time employee in BRS. Johnson quickly became an invaluable member of company as he marketed the company’s products.

Nike Incorporate has a participative style of management (UK Essays). The top management leadership style can be characterized by the team management approach. The group is team oriented, but is capable and does work independently recognizing the common stake that each places in Nike. The company culture lends a hand to the fact that top management's teamwork style has spread throughout the organization (Enderle, Hirsch, Micka, Saving, Shah, & Szerwinski, 2000).

Although it already existed long before through primitive trade and migration, globalization has become a major factor in the world organization since the twentieth century. With the creation of transnational companies, intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations, political and economic associations appeared new powerful actors that cannot be left apart in states’ decisions and whose influence may, according to some, threaten the authority of nation-states. Indeed it can be thought that globalization is causing the end of borders between countries and what is more that it is creating a sort of universal society in which states’ sovereignty is not the main authority anymore. However this essay will try to demonstrate that globalization is not undermining state sovereignty but that it is in fact leading to its transformation and to a new variety of nations. In order to prove it I will first define the main key words and will then focus on the different arguments about the effects of globalization and finally I will demonstrate that globalization has led to a transformation of the concept of state sovereignty.
Profitability As the Table 1 showed above, NIKE has the steady ascending trend in profitability ratios. NIKE’s gross margin improved about 2.4%, from 2013’s 43.60% to 2015’s 46.00%. Gross profit margin measures a company’s ability to control costs and set sales prices for customers. The ratio shows that NIKE has stable performance on this ability. NIKE’s improved gross margin can be attributed to two factors, higher average net selling prices and growth in higher-margin direct-to-customer business (NIKE 10-K, 2015).

Customer behavior can be defined as the process used by organizations, individuals and groups, to select, buy or use particular products or services to satisfy their needs and the impact it has on the society (Wikipedia, consumer behavior). Every product in the market is given a different value by an individual user based on the need it satisfies and also the level of the want. For example a person may put choosing a car as just for a means of transport from point A to point B but for another individual a car is not only used as a mode of transport but also as a means of his lifestyle. Many marketers use these difference of needs in consumers to create different marketing campaigns to attract consumers that use their products.

...ent prevails over the degradation. In my opinion, the benefits of globalization discussed in this paper are far more important than it's costs or the costs and benefits of localization. Although, localization and globalization will continue co-existing, globalization will continue to increasingly dominate over time because most countries are generally leading to and becoming more accepting of the idea of globalization. In conclusion, the benefits gained by globalization are the most important to people's lives because it aides in the learning process of people expanding their horizons and understanding the benefits to countries, organizations, and groups working together. Although losing some part of one's national identity can be a disadvantage at times, the advantages of being able to work together and help each other in a globally integrated world are much more.

It is visible that the globalisation thesis is not clear cut therefore in this essay I will not be looking at it in isolation but will also attempt to highlight the issues surrounding globalisation, whilst attempting to find a correlation between the neo-liberal stance of globalisation and how they regard this to be affecting the global domain in regards to employment, before concluding as to if we can conclusively say that globalisation is affecting the world of work in society today.
