For this assignment, I chose to interview JL Audio cofounder Lucio Proni. JL Audio is a consumer/professional audio manufacturer located in Miramar, Florida that produces speakers for boats, cars, and home sound systems. Lucio Proni is an engineer and cofounder of the company with his high school buddy Jim Birch. During the mid-1970’s when they were on their summer break from the University of Florida, Lucio and Jim decided to mess around with component speakers and wound up building home loudspeakers for fun. They worked out of a garage in Lucios home and showed some of their speakers to their friends and some. Later on, a few of them even bought some, so they built a couple more to sell on the flea market. Lucio’s early success inspired
If we refer to products, people often take them as the things we get from suppliers with a price. Apparently, this is a definition from the perspective of exchanges and does not quite catch the essence of the meaning of product in the marketing discipline. In this regard, Rothschild (2009) offered a probably better definition for products as a bundle of benefits for customers. This definition also offers an important perspective for JB Hi-Fi to understand its products. Because after all, JB Hi-Fi is only a retailer and all its home theatre products are sourced from their manufacturers. If JB Hi-Fi only sees its products as the tangible parts, it may miss out the very important parts of the competition. However, if JB Hi-Fi sees the product as a bundle of benefits it can offer to its customers, the tangible part is only part of this bundle. There is much more for JB Hi-Fi to offer to improve the benefits to customers, and at the same time differentiate itself from its competitors.
...ipped with some of the best-known names in car audio. These companies include Delphi, Delco Electronics Systems, Alpine Electronics, Clarion, Audiovox, Visteon, Pioneer, Panasonic, Sanyo, and Motorola (“Car Units” 2002). These audio systems will definitely help in the performance of the overall radio because the speakers are top of the line and provide better quality than any others. Also, it will most likely improve the sale of the systems since the name brands will attract more buyers.
Apple is one of the leading company in the electronic industry located in Cupertino, California. This electronic giant, at top of Business Weeks Most Innovative Companies list since 2004, had showed itself by doing so well over the years in not only product design but also make a huge amount of money in the past 20 years especially in revenue and margins. According to “Apple Sales”, in the first quarter of 2011, $26.7 billion in revenue, 70% increase from a year before was reported. Apple was established as a computer company in Mountain View, California, on April 1, 1976 by Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak. But later diversified to a digital entertainment and software company in 2003 by providing iPod and iTunes which made them “invented a whole new category of digital music player that let you put your entire music collection in your pocket and listen to it wherever you go”. In 2007, the company also competing in the cell phone/smartphone industry by releasing iPhone which combined an Internet-enabled smartphone and video iPod. After they released the first iPad in April 2010, this giant becoming a diversified digital entertainment corporation in all three industries, PCs, consumer electronics and music, which made them taking bites out of the competition on all fronts.
With a near total saturation of the consumer electronics market, companies need to look beyond their boundaries and add value to their offerings, and sometimes it means total reinvention of the company.
International Business Machines, better known as IBM, is one of the worlds largest technology companies, currently ranking at number twenty in the fortune five-hundred. IBM was founded by Thomas J. Watson, not from scratch, but through the merging of three, already prominent, computer companies. IBM distinguished itself, not only through selling products, but primarily through research and development. IBM is currently one of the forerunners in the burgeoning field of internet clouds.

To meet and respond to its customers needs, IBM creates, develops and manufactures many of the worlds most advanced technologies, ranging from computer systems and software to networking systems, storage devices and microelectronics. Indeed, IBM has various product lines and services a few of which are: the Personal Computer that was first created in 1981, AS/400 business system, RS/6000 family of workstations and server systems, S/390 enterprise server, groundbreaking ThinkPad notebook computer; the award-winning IBM Netfinity and finally, PC Servers. It is an important supplier of hard disks, random access memories, and liquid crystal monitors.
The iPod was not always the top player, nor was it the invention that created the craze for portable music and media playing. The following paper will show how Apple was able to take over a market that was created by other big technology companies such as Sony, Dell, Creative Labs, and Rio to name a few. The Strategy for success that Apple brought to the table launched a shockwave that most of the computer manufacturers have been using for years, being an end-to-end supplier, providing both the software and player from the same company.
The industry dynamics as discussed before have historically been adverse to Apple and the developed markets have reached to a saturation point as well. The last significant new product development was with respect to the iPad which was in 2010. Since then, Apple has been grappling with the issue of developing disruptive and innovative technological products. The most recent product development has been the iWatch, however unlike the iPhone and the iPad, Apple hasn’t been the forerunner in the development of wearable
In December 1996, Apple bought Next Inc for $400 million dollars. After Apple buying Next Inc Apple was generating big losses due to competing companies using the Intel chips and Microsoft software. Just after eight months after Apple bought Steve Jobs company Next Inc Apple appointed him as interim CEO and permanent CEO by January 2000. Soon after Steve Jobs was appointed CEO Apple introduced the IMac in 1998. The IMac was a success and sold over 1.8 million units in the 1999 fiscal year. In 2001 that's when business was going to really start to take off for Steve Jobs, when the ipod was introduced, following the iPod Nano, the video iPod in 2005 and the iPod touch in 2008. In 2007, the iPhone was introduced which sold over 11.6 million iPhones in the 2008 fiscal year. IPhones accounted for 43% of net sales in the 2011 fiscal year. Steve Jobs then introduced the iPad in 2010 and Apple has been revolutionizing the wa...

Without regard to price, it can be assumed that the electrostatic speakers paired up with a woofer would be the first choice for audio quality oriented consumers. The light and widespread diaphragm provides clearer and more precise sound reproduction with a greater surround effect than what one would get from standard electromagnetic speakers.
In past few years, companies and industries of various sizes have become aware that they need to improve business processes such as product development, order fulfilment, planning, distribution, and customer service. So everybody is now focusing on doing process improvement or redesigning.
