There exist different versions and elements of the Biblical prophetic tradition, from the patriarchal stories of Abraham and Moses to the exilic and post-exilic prophecies (like prophecies by Isaiah, Ezekiel, Daniel), to New Testament appropriations. Biblical prophesies in today’s world have become more important as things in the world start to go in a way that is destructive. For instance, with the increase in the cases of wars, earthquakes, famines and drought is the fulfillment of these prophesies in the bible on the last days. Research has proven that there are only a small percentage of born-again Christians that have prophecies that are based on the bible.
There are many groups of people that claim to have prophecies. This has led to the rise of a lot of controversy between people. This is because they argue there are high numbers of prophets who are fake. These fake prophets use specific verses within the Bible to come up with prophecies that will help them benefit in a certain way from the audience. For instance, there has been the emergence of a large number of street preachers.
As much as this argument could be valid, there are prophets who use the bible as the foundation of their prophecies. As stated above, there have been several reasons for the born again Christians to believe that the end of the world is coming. The prophecies of today focus on the events of that occur in the last days described by the Bible. The traditional form of prophecy used by street prophets is a form whereby they make the audience aware of the illnesses that are ongoing in the society and relate them to the bible. This is only done by a few numbers of street preachers. They often remind people that God is a forgiving...

...e of the two, however, I also believe they are similar in a way that in both the epic and the bible, a higher force, ‘God’, tells mortals to spread the word of God instead of doing it themselves.
In conclusion, literature can be analyzed based on whether it contains epic genres or not. Ancient literature was said to be epic due to the flexibility it had and it’s ability to achieve factors that other forms of literature cannot manage to obtain. It is also evident that modern literature lacks the lyric poetry that is found in epics. It is also clear that contemporary literature has a lot of emotions and feelings, is more intimate, realistic and heteroglossic.
What exactly are the "ruins" of Chichen Itza? That is, in addition to the pyramids themselves, what do contemporary tourists and anthropologists seem to think has been ruined?

The prophecy Jesus presents in Mark 13:30 is one of many that present teachings on the end times. In Jesus’ fig-tree lesson he states, “Truly, I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place.” This statement is one that has been analyzed and debated amongst biblical scholars for centuries. My aim is to analyze Jesus’ purpose behind this prophecy, while presenting varying interpretations and the weakness’ within each solution. My conclusion is by no means a definitive answer to Jesus’ meaning, but an analysis of a few commentaries and my own conclusion based on the research presented. In order to further understand the meaning behind this verse the larger and immediate context of the passage must be taken into account.
...and reasons for being written, they both share very similar aspects that are also prominent in many other epic stories. This proves that the style for writing epics has persisted through time for thousands of years due to the fact that the way they are written creates a long lasting effect on the readers and inspires others to follow the same parameters to writing stories in a similar fashion. This causes a snowball effect that allow the same story structure to even be prominent in movies and books today.
Prophets began to travel in packs receiving the presence of God through trace like states. The prophet Elijah emerges out of these traveling prophets around 886 BCE and begins to speak publicly. Elijah had a big problem with the King. The Kings lady was from a pagan religion and had brought about the worship of other Gods. Elijah addresses the King publicly and challenges the other Gods to make fire. They of course can’t match the Big Guy and Elijah triumphs and rides away into the sky leaving behind his robe passing on the power of prophecy. So ends the spoken prophets.
Among Jewish peasantry at the time of Jesus were two distinct types of prophets: the action prophets, who "led sizable movements of peasants from the villages of Judea in anticipation of God's new, eschatological act of liberation," and the oracular prophets, who delivered oracles of either judgment or deliverance (185). The former, as illustrated by the case of Theudas, appea...
The book of Daniel is one of the great books of the Bible and also one of the most debated books in the Bible. It contains details of the ministry of Daniel and some of the most perplexing and fulfilled prophecies. Christians often think that prophecy is not very difficult and a straight forward propositional prediction and fulfillment, but it is more complex than that. The interpretation of the apocalyptic genre is one of the main reasons for its difficulty. Today one of these perplexing passages from Daniel will be examined. Three approaches to the interpretation to Daniel 9:24-27 will be discussed along with positive and negative arguments for each.
The term ‘apocalyptic beliefs’ will be defined in line with Norman Cohn's use of the term as a particular type of salvationism.1 This definition is in line with Nick Campion’s explanation of the word 'apocalypse'. Campion suggests “the Greek for revelation, is derived from the word apocalyptic, to describe the vision of the end of the world". Campion also states that eschatology is from the Greek word Eschaton, meaning the study of ends, but can mean belief in the end of the world. The word millenarian may be applied to all beliefs that the world is about to enter a major new phase.
Out of these civilizations many stories came into being, such as The Epic of Gilgamesh, and Genesis. After reading these works, it is easy to notice several similarities. For example, both tell of a global flood sent from the higher power(s). Not only that, the protagonists means of escaping were similar. Moreover, in Genesis the protagonist, Noah, was alerted of the flood by God, and was instructed to build an ark for him, his family, and 2 of every animal. Comparatively,in The Epic of Gilgamesh, Utnapishtim was instructed by a god that a flood was coming, and that he must take down his house and build an ark for him, his family, and 2 of every animal. Albeit, the dimensions of the ark were different, as were the species of the birds used to find land. Despite, this there are stark similarities between the two. Furthermore, many people denote that one was essentially a copy of the other, however due to the lack of record keeping, it is difficult to know which came first. Moreover, there are many reasonable explanations for this. Due to traditions being kept orally for most of that era, things could have easily gotten mixed up. Also, it is not difficult to think that maybe they originated as the same story ,but with the division of cultures they became their own separate stories with similar plot
The first question we come to when studying religions based on the teachings of modern prophets is this: can modern prophets exist? Christianity, one of the three major religions followed today, says yes. “…The Wisdom of God said, ‘I will send them prophets and apostles, and some of them they will kill and some of them they will persecute…’ ” (Holy Bible) This quote from Christianity’s great rule book also predicts that when prophets do come to the Earth, people will not accept them as such. This is fairly accurate in Christians’ reactions to religions that have their basis in Christianity but have diverged from the church into their own sects.
Poetry is the oldest literary genre written in verse. It has the purpose of producing an illusion on the imagination of the reader, it uses different figures of speech and takes different poems forms. An epic is one of this poem forms and it is “an extended narrative poem recounting actions, travels, adventures, and heroic episodes where the action, often in battle, reveals the more-than-human strength of the heroes as they engage in acts of courage” and they embody the set of values of their nations. In this paper I am going to show that Beowul, the oldest English poem whose author is unknown, is an exceptional example of an epic since it displays three of the typical features of this genre: it is long, there is an embodiment of nation´s values, the main character is a superhuman hero.
The archetype, prophecy and fulfillment, is demonstrated in Jean Stafford's "The Liberation" and in the life of Moses, as recorded in the Bible. This archetype involves the prediction of an occurrence, and then it occurring. Polly, of "The Liberation", and Moses have many similar experiences when they must confront their family and deliver important news.

“Whether we are reading the Bible for the first time or standing in a field in Israel next to a historian and an archaeologist and a scholar, the Bible meets us where we are. That is what truth does” (Bell, 2005). The Bible is a testament of what has happened and what is happening. The Bible teaches us about our lives today through the meanings of its historical events. It is our interpretation of binding and loosing that broadens our awareness of God, allowing us to differentiate from Him and embody the image of Him.
Let us start with this statement: I believe that new preachers and new people to the Christian Faith try hard to avoid the Old Testament. If they do, they only look at one section and struggle to connect all the pieces together. One of the issues that makes people uncomfortable is the prophets. First, there is a definite volume of them, and then they are divided into “major” and “minor.” I think at the core of our hearts, we are trying to understand the difference among the different biblical prophets.
...y developed pre-Colombians people know as the Mayan civilization. The lost temples all traces carrying from the Mayan cultures. Chichen Itza is a very famous archaeological and a tourist site in Mexico. Approximately 1.2 million visit the Mayan ruins every year. The Castillo is probably the most known image of Chichen Itza. The monument is in a shape of a 79 foot pyramid, it consists of 365 steps same as the number of days in a solar year. All the building in Chichen Itza is made out of stone.
