The book of Joshua is a historical book about the conquest of the promise land. Joshua was most likely the author of this book since he was present for the time it took place; except for his death, which believed to be written by a high priest named, Phinehas. Joshua was the man God called to lead the people of Israel into the land of Canann after Moses died. Out of all of the Israelites that escaped slavery from Egypt, only two original people made it into the Promised Land, Joshua and Caleb.
The Israelites were on their way into the land God had promised them and they encountered many battles on their way. The Gibeonites were a very large and powerful city. But they were afraid because the five kingdoms of Adoni-Zedek, king of Jerusalem, Hoham, king of Hebron, Priam, king of Jarmuth, Japhia, king of Lachish, and Debir, king of Eglon: which surrounded them were ganging up against them. So, the Gibeonites tricked Joshua into a peace treaty because they had seen what Joshua and his army had done to Jericho and its surrounding cities and they knew that God was with them.
The Gibeonites dressed in old, dirty clothes, sandals, and carried moldy bread and old torn wineskins to make Joshua believe they were from a city far away and were seeking refuge. Joshua made a peace treaty with them before he consulted with God. Therefore, when the five cities came against Gibeon, Joshua had to honor his word and fight with him. God was with Joshua and He promised that he and his army would defeat the others.
In this battle God performed a miracle. Joshua asked God to have the sun stay above Gibeon and the moon stay over the Valley of Aijalon. Therefore, it stayed daylight for 24 hours during the battle. The Bible ...

I want the kind of faith that can make the sun stand still, that is just absolutely amazing how that happened. I know I can have that faith if I just let myself out of my comfort zone. If I just let myself become the person God has planned me to be. This was an amazing story that brings up so many questions on life. I wish God was here today to walk with us and make this place we live a better one.
