Belize is a small country, on the Caribbean Sea, between Mexico and Guatemala. With a total land area of about 8,800 square miles, Belize is slightly smaller than Massachusetts.1 Belize is subject to frequent hurricanes and coastal flooding. The country has one of the higher population growth rates of Central America at 2.154%, and a total population of 307,899. 2 Belize is composed of mostly flat, swampy coastal plains, with some low mountainous regions in the south. The climate is tropical, characterized by very hot and humid alternating rain and dry seasons. Belize attracts tourism to its 240 miles of coastline which is characterized by crystal clear waters and diver attracting reef system. Belize offers a diverse eco-system, as well as a rich culture and history. Belize’s first recorded civilizations were the Mayan’s, who began development of the area around 1500BC, and flourished through AD 1200.3 Belize is home to many major archaeological sites, many of which show the advance civilization who inhabited the land at that time. Initial European contact occurred in 1502 when Columbus sailed along the coast. However, settlement by Europeans did not occur until 1638 when English seamen were shipwrecked off the coast.4 The next 150 years saw an expansion of English settlements, and was marked by an indiscriminate amount of natural resource pilfering. Belize was not formally recognized as the “Colony of British Honduras” until 1840, and becoming a crown colony in 1862. After official recognition, the development of a formalized establishment of colonial rule began. ...o the structure given by Great Britain when Belize was still under colonial rule, there has been a struggle to transform from a low industry exporter of natural resources to a respectable world player. The dynamics of multiple ethnic groups identifying Belize as home has added problems. With the unwillingness of Guatemala to recognize the legitimacy of Belize has caused uncertainty about the potential for violence. Each of the challenges that Belize confronts and deals with successfully serves to better equip them as a country to succeed independently. As an English speaking nation on the Caribbean coast the development of tourism helps to expand the understanding of other nations to the potential of this small country. By cultivating a citizen centered government, Belize can continue to meet and defeat the challenges of participating in a modern global community.
Guatemala’s culture is a unique product of Native American ways and a strong Spanish colonial heritage. About half of Guatemala’s population is mestizo (known in Guatemala as ladino), people of mixed European and indigenous ancestry. Ladino culture is dominant in urban areas, and is heavily influenced by European and North American trends. Unlike many Latin American countries, Guatemala still has a large indigenous population, the Maya, which has retained a distinct identity. Deeply rooted in the rural highlands of Guatemala, many indigenous people speak a Mayan language, follow traditional religious and village customs, and continue a rich tradition in textiles and other crafts. The two cultures have made Guatemala a complex society that is deeply divided between rich and poor. This division has produced much of the tension and violence that have marked Guatemala’s history (Guatemalan Culture and History).
Nicaragua The area of Nicaragua is 50,193 sq. ft. mi. The Nicaraguan highlands, with an elevation of about 2000 ft, cross Nicaragua from the northwest to the southeast. Several mountain ranges, the highest of which, the Cordillera Isabelia, reaches an elevation of more than 6890 ft, cut the highlands from east to west.
In this essay I will compare and contrast the approaches and goals of Richard and Sally Price and S. Allen Counter and David Evens on the topic of Maroon arts of the Suriname. I will explain how they present their findings. And tell what I think they would say the most important discovery or confirmation is. After all of this is done I will do follow up art historical research in the same area. The main focus of my research would be why anyone would be interested in finding out more about this particular region?fs art. The calabash maroon arts would be the art form I would research (relying on the experiences of the authors), giving a brief description of the research I would undertake. I will provide information on how I got the much-needed information about this art form. Also stating if I talked to anyone and why. Lastly describing what questions I would want answered if any.

Belmopan has been Belize's captial since 1971. It is seated in the center of Belize on the Belize River, half way between the coastal Belize City and the Belize- Guatemalan border town of San Ignacio. The capital has not become the bustling metropolis that Belize City continues to be, but it does provide a train station for travelers as well as cultural buildings for some light sight-seeing. Belmopan, Belize is geographically and politically important to Belize, however, it is still not the center of Belizean culture and economy (Krutzinna 105-106).
When I was 18, my family took a trip to Cancun for Spring Break. I absolutely loved the beaches and palm trees, the white sand, hot sun and blue waves. Ever since then I have had a real passion for tropical islands. My favorite and perhaps the most beautiful Islands I’ve researched are the Cayman Islands. I’ve only seen pictures and heard stories but I’ve already decided that’s where I am getting married. I still however, don’t know anything about the islands. My love for these islands and my thirst for knowledge on the topic has driven me to do more research and find out the history behind the Cayman Islands. I want to know everything about them, so far the only thing I know is that there are three islands, Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac, and Little cayman. I would like to know more. I am hoping to learn about the early development of the islands, the people, growth, tropical climate and environment. I am doing this purely for my own reference and curiosity.

The Antiguan scene can only be modified by the government choosing to run the country in a more manner that will benefit everyone associated with Antigua, especially its natives. The native’s behaviours are related to their jealousy of tourists, and of the tourist’s ability to escape their own hometown to take a vacation. While a tourist can relate to the idea that the exhaustion felt after a vacation comes from dealing with the invisible animosity in the air between the natives and themselves, having this knowledge is almost as good as not having it, because there is nothing that the tourist, or the reader, can really DO about it! If Kincaid’s purpose is solely to make tourists aware of their actions, she has succeeded. If Kincaid’s purpose is to help Antigua, she may not have succeeded to the same magnitude.
In a quaint little village tucked away on a beautiful Caribbean island, lays the seaside town of Runaway bay. A town filled with deep rooted culture on an island filled with welcoming natives. The pleasant vibes of reggae music and Rastafarian culture flow from the hills to the sandy shores. This island rich with tropical fruits and spices is located in the heart of the Greater Antilles. History tells that the enslaved island once known to its natives as “Xaymeca”, has come a long way in becoming the independent nation known today as Jamaica. In the Sea of many islands known as the West Indies, Jamaica stands peaceful, welcoming tourist and expanding rapidly. From an early age my passion for the island and its culture has grown strong. From a brief history, through a look into the present day culture and society of Jamaica, my fascination with the island will bares true meaning.

In brief, the merit efforts in preserving our local values are unable to eliminate the challenges of globalisation. It is however, capable of minimising the impacts international travel posed on our cultures. It is up to our country’s preparedness to overcome the issues and try to acquire as much benefits as possible by incorporating the ideas international travel has bought, onto its national development strategies to satisfy each stakeholders and to elevate Brunei’s condition. Failure to do so not only resulted in Brunei losing their culture but also the future generations will not experience the similar cultures our ancestors had experienced decades ago.
When one thinks of Barbados, one thinks of luscious, turquoise blue waters; soft white sand beaches; blue, white clouded skies; fresh fruits; exotic, delicious dishes and honeymoons. One, however, tends to forget the formation of this land. This Caribbean luxury Island has much history and great heritage. In this report, I will detail Barbados’s location, history, labor relations, population size and structure, industries, plus add a little zest with the beauty of the Island.
Jamaica, located in the Caribbean and south of Cuba, has a population of 2,706,500 according to the 2011 census and the area of 4,243 square miles, their capital is Kingston which has about a quarter of their population . They are the 49th most densely populated country on the earth with 656 people per square mile and the life expectancy of 71. For currency one USD (US Dollar) would equal 107.95 JMD (Jamaican Dollar) but a dozen eggs would cost 253.78JMD which would equal to about $3 for us. But what are they like and what do they eat? That’s what I’m going to tell you.
The Republic of Latvia, located in the Baltic region of Northern Europe, borders Russia to the east, the Baltic Sea to its west, south of Estonia and north of Lithuania. The capital and largest city of Latvia is Riga. The unitary state has an official language of Latvian, one of the last of the Baltic languages that has been passed down throughout generations. The climate of Latvia is temperate with the capability of some extreme cold temperatures and heavy snowfall in its winter season. With recent activity by the Russian government and its entry into the Ukraine drawing attention to the region, gaining knowledge about a country bordering Russia that I knew little about seemed advantageous.

Jamaica has so far maintained a good tourism industry, having made minimal damage to their culture and environment as well as provided locals with employment. If Jamaica continues to maintain their tourism industry the way they currently are, they will come to development. It is so important for Jamaica to uphold a sustainable industry so the country can make money but also provide a new experience for tourists, learning about the culture and environment without doing any harm. The tourism industry is growing rapidly worldwide and people need to understand how their actions can have an impact on the development of some nations, so living standards can one day be equal.
