Recommended: Roles of religion and the church essay

In my experience, simply stating I believe in God is not typically recognized to be a denominational preference. The expectation of believers is to choose a specific label of religion. Nevertheless, every denomination of Christianity shares belief in the same God. The varieties of Christianity hold individual perceptions of Christian requirements. For example, the Catholic denominations believe in infant Baptism. As oppose to, the Baptist belief of Baptism at an age of consent (www.answerbag.com.personal communication, November 14, 2003). In addition, nondenominational churches support a no pressure approach to the Lord. In my opinion, belief in one God need only require one religion and one set of beliefs. Born into a practicing Catholic family, I’ve acquired six traditional sacraments of the Catholic Religion. In Catholic teaching, sacraments are gifts of Christ, performed through the office of the Church, (www.spaceandmotion.com/religion.personal communication, August, 2007). For the duration of elementary through high school, I attended Catholic School. At the age of eighteen, I came to the conclusion; the catholic religion was not for me. I find Catholicism highly contradictive. For centuries, one belief of Catholicism was, an individual's soul was not saved until receiving the sacrament of Baptism. Therefore, if a person had not been baptized they would not go to Heaven. After years supporting this belief, Catholics have since changed their teachings. Currently, Baptism is taught to be a Sacrament and the soul is now not doomed if one has not been baptized. In catholic congregations, parishioners confess their sins to a priest, to whom they refer to as father. I never understood the reasoning for that, God is the Fa... ... middle of paper ... ...t. Baptist services are rather stressful. Unlike the Baptist church, the Nondenominational church targets a more modern style of religion. These contemporary churches feature live bands, and snack bars. The church may change views to accommodate the members at any time. The Nondenominational denomination is in fact, Nondenominational. I found the no pressure approach to be too open. For example, members of the church attend service with coffee while wearing pajamas. A place for praising God should be more respected. Building a community appeared top priority in the Nondenominational church. I feel regulation for religious denominations, is impractical. Life is challenging enough especially for those who do believe. Believers are more conscientious to right and wrong. In my opinion, belief in one God need only require one religion with one set of beliefs.

I have chosen this particular Church because it is a family church type and my neighbor goes there and she encouraged me to go with her.
