Child abuse is one of the leading problems society faces today and common people are not even aware of it. They do not know that approximately four to five children are dying every day (Child Abuse Statistics). Because of the lack of knowledge and concern, they do not care what child has to go through when he or she is being abused mentally, emotionally, sexually, and physically. Take the example of Heavenlea – the victim of child abuse – who was abused from the time when she turned 6 till she turned 18. She was abused emotionally, mentally, and physically. Her parents beat her, spanked her and one time her father slapped on her face, which almost made her blind. That’s what child has to go through when he or she is being abused.
Child abuse threatens child’s emotional and mental stability. Parents or caretakers abuse their children emotionally by insulting them, cursing them, and telling them they are worthless and having them was a mistake. They may harm them physically or they may just ignore them as if they never existed by not taking care of their food and medical needs. Child abuse is defined as “any act of commission or omission that endangers or impairs a child physical or emotional health and development”, which includes any damage done to a child without any acceptable reason (Child Abuse). Everybody should care and contribute to solve this issue of child abuse, because it will not only help children, but also helps government to save lot money and helps to grow country’s economy.

No matter how efficient, dedicated, and hard worker the organization is; it is impossible to meet the current demand because of the limiting resources. Thus these organizations cannot help but solving very few critical cases. Although it is almost impossible to spread the voice but gradually and through step by step, everybody can contribute to solve this issue of child abuse. No matter how difficult and hard the problem seems to be, taking initiative to solve that problem can be one of the better solutions. Certainly small steps would not be enough to find solution any problem, but it is better than doing nothing.

Child abuse in general is quite complex and at the same time one of the most challenging social issue facing people all around the USA. Child abuse cases have been recorded in all the states of the USA. The cases occur in all areas be it cities, small towns, suburbs, and even in rural areas. The spirits of children are shattered, tender hearts broken with words, and precious bodies riddled and limp from abuse. Eyes that should glisten with wonder and excitement are enveloped with dismay and destruction. Fathers physically beat their little girls. Mothers leave newborns in locked cars, and some parents degrade their children with verbal daggers. Child abuse is much more serious than people want to believe. Child abuse comes in different forms: neglect, physical, and verbal abuse. But what are even more serious are its effects: inability to properly function in society, fear of trust, and a broken self-esteem. We should all be there to help these children, by holding their hands, or even giving them a sincere smile.

Child abuse has been defined as, any intentional act that results in physical or emotional harm to a child. This could cover any behavior from assault, to neglect, to molestation. (Encarta 1) In 1995, a study was done by the National Center on Child Abuse & Neglect. They concluded that in the United States alone, approximately 3 million children are victims of some sort of maltreatment each year. This means that an unimaginable amount of our county’s adolescents are being seriously mistreated, and the numbers are rising steadily. While the specific definition of child abuse may differ from state to state, the effects unfortunately do not. Physical maltreatment, neglect and sexual abuse create immediate problems for children, as well as long term damage. Some common effects on sufferers of abuse include, a lowered sense of self worth, an inability to relate to others, short attention span and often they develop learning disorders. More detrimental cases can develop severe depression or anxiety, schizophrenia, violent behavior and an increased risk of suicide. (Encarta 3) In some cases, abused children learn how to cope with their experiences and grow to healthy adults, but most are not that lucky. Most victims of abuse are forced to deal with the results for their entire lives.
The states can establish agencies and organizations to prevent child abuse. This act provides supports and helps, so it can help and support parents and abused children. However, it does not address fundamental problems. Thus, this law can help but cannot remove child abuse. The ways to remove the issue is to address fundamental factors such as poverty, less education, and skills and knowledge of parenting. Also, people who notice child abuse must report. We can easily notice if physical abuses such as violence happen outside. Thus, the physical, sexual, and emotional abuses have been reported more, so we can say that system works well. However, neglects are difficult to find from outside because the home is really closure. For instance, we cannot see that parents do not give any meals. Thus, even though how much people and agencies outside try to address and investigate, it does not direct way to address and prevent the issues. As mentioned above, poverty, isolation and other factors are causes of child abuse, we should address the main causes to truly prevent and remove child abuse. The most adequate countermeasure is to make society with parents with money, time and emotional to spare. In other words, it is important that we make the society which is parents are able to have enough money, time, and healthy
