The Bead Bar is a company that permits its consumers to produce their own bead jewelry by using wire, beads and string. Presently, there are three branches of the business composed of one studio, two franchises, and three bead Bars on Board. The role of the Bead Bar studio is to oversee the six Bead Bar studios that have two locations in New York City, one in Long Island, one in Boston, one in Washington D.C. and the flagship in New Canaan, Connecticut. The franchise division has the job of supplying beading supplies to stores that wish to open their own studio location. The franchise locations are located in Los Angeles, Kansas City, Chicago, Seattle, and Miami. The Bead Bar on Board is a moveable Bead Bar intended especially for cruise ships. The company is compiled of fifteen full-time employees and twenty part-time employees. The Bead Bar has locations all through the United States, and is in need of a networking system to insure communication between everyone working at each location, and to insure communication with the other locations and employees. In the following essay, I will give a little background information on the Bead Bar, as it relates to the Bead Bars IT needs. I will describe the technology that already exists at the Bead Bar, and what a computer network could do for the Bead Bar. I will give my IT network recommendations for the Bead Bar, and discuss my suggestions for the network topology and architecture for the organization. I will include the network topology that I proposed for the Bead Bar and the factors that led me to make this recommendation. I will explore the network architecture that I recommend for the Bead Bar, and why I chose this network architecture. I will also discuss the potential advantages and drawbacks that my network recommendation will provide to the Bead Bar. The Bead Bar needs computers and a good network to process orders, invoices, have control over their inventory, as well as provide communication between employees, as well as their customers. The Bead Bar is currently using a paper based system, as stated by Malaga (2005), “which is inefficient and has caused some problems, including lost orders, incorrect invoicing, and fulfillment delays.” Consultants have been hired to recommend what the Bead Bar should do to solve these problems, and the consultants have recommended that Bead Bar needs to purchase computer hardware, software, and database management systems.
The American Red Cross, a non-profit organization is implementing a new industry standard system called BioArch to track and process its blood products. The new infrastructure will improve the quality of its blood products since employees will be able utilize products based on inventory and age. The system also improves the product tracking process currently in place and it promises to improve customer relations since most competitors are already using the BioArch system. Currently, systems regionally are different and therefore inventory is kept separate. This creates challenges in meeting customer demands and it increases manufacturing manual processes.

Candy has been in the confectionery market capturing millions of hearts for decades. Originally our ancestors enjoyed this delicious treat dipped and coated with pure honey and later blended with crunchy nuts and fresh fruits. Candies in ancient times prepared were too expensive and was consumed only by the rich community people.
With the implementation of such a system that can handle appointment scheduling, payment tendering, settlement, and rate change management which PepsiCo had desired, PepsiCo will be able to have a sole server for accessing freight audits and payments that previously took up to a month before the centralized accounts payable. Before such a system could be fully implemented, each audit cost PepsiCo $25-$28 per invoice to pay each freight bill (Web, 2014). With more than 90,000 invoices per year, the costs quickly add up. Completely eliminating these costs with the system Pe...
Information on vendors can be updated at any time in the future. The user may record purchase orders, bills, and payments made. Both the revenue and expenditure cycle components keep track of what is happening to inventory. Example:. If a user wants to pay for a product for which his or her company has already been invoiced and which the company has received, the user needs only enter the vendor and the invoice being paid.
A barcode is a visual representation of data that is checked and utilized for data. Bar code is simple to control equipment and tool inventory. In facilities supervisors can use barcodes to link work orders, purchase orders, spare parts and equipment which can be further used to track and collect cost. In barcodes historical data can be used to predict the seasonal fluctuation accurately. Barcodes are printed specifically on the paper or a plastic object, therefore actualizing a standardized identification framework is far less expensive than the RFID innovation.
An overall general description of the bookstore management system will be provided. This also includes an in-depth analysis about the actual product that will be developed, the various functions of the bookstore, and the general characteristics of the users of the system as well as the constraints that must be considered throughout the development process. The specific requirements will provide an in-depth coverage of every sub-system discussing its functional and non-functional characteristics of the system. Furthermore, when discussing the functional and non-functional aspects basic operations and constraints will be touched upon respectively.
So it’s important to research the product and the vendor to make certain that you select the right system for your business. You’ve got to have a system that fully integrates all aspects of running your manufacturing business, offers advanced features and options but is intuitive and easy to use so employees can grasp hold quickly, and adapts to the way you do business rather than forcing you to adapt to the software.
It is undeniable that Inventory Management is an important key to success at Walmart. This paper will discuss the two main methods of Inventory Management used by Wal-Mart: Material Requirements Planning and Just-in Time. Next we write about the technical means of keeping track of inventories, like RFID tags. We conclude by discussing how Wal-Mart, one of the world’s largest retailers, manages its inventories. Material Requirements Planning (MRP) Walmart needs to make sure that consumers are satisfied all the time, not only with the quality of service being provided to them, but with the quality of the product they are planning.
Retail tags are marked with a bar code. Usually an Item in a retail store of thousand of items needs to identify each item respectively. So by using a bar code that put a predetermined set of #'s into a code format. Any scanner in the store can simply scan the code for each identifying # instead of remembering or writing down 6 and 8 digit #'s to identify. This intern eliminates the dyslexia and mixing #'s up.
Since UPS’s establishment, the company aims to provide “best service and lowest rates.” UPS aims to have the best service through satisfying their customers with timely and accurate shipments. The DIAD tracks information through the scannable bar-coded label and gives the drivers the best delivery route. The package tracking system gives the customers real time feedback to package whereabouts. The Web-based Post Sales Order Management System (OMS) manages global service orders and inventory for critical parts fulfillment. High-tech electronics, aerospace, medical, and other companies can receive critical packages quickly. The system allows for orders to be placed online and track parts from the warehouse to the final user. The customer is informed on each shipment milestone and changes in delivery. The UPS Supply Chain Solution allows for other subscribing companies to use UPS’s systems and infrastructure to handle their deliveries at a cheaper rate than on their own systems. Thus, the company meets their goal to offer the lowest
Local Area Networks also called LANs have been a major player in industrialization of computers. In the past 20 or so years the worlds industry has be invaded with new computer technology. It has made such an impact on the way we do business that it has become essential with an ever-growing need for improvement. LANs give an employer the ability to share information between computers with a simple relatively inexpensive system of network cards and software. It also lets the user or users share hardware such as Printers and scanners. The speed of access between the computers is lighting fast because the data has a short distance to cover. In most cases a LAN only occupies one or a group of buildings located next to each other. For larger area need there are several other types of networks such as the Internet.
Barcodes are used everywhere around us. They are used to track products through shipment, track products at a store and speed up and enhance the checkout process, as well as allowing faster access to information. Barcodes began to be used heavily in the 1970’s. This began a great movement in the consumer industry, speeding up the checkout process and allowing easier inventory tracking. However, just like all technologies, barcodes have been enhanced many times over and are being replaced by better, more efficient systems (Bonsor).
Over the past few years, Internet-enabled business, or e-business, has drastically improved efficiency and revenue growth. E-business applications such as e-commerce, supply-chain management, and remote access allow companies to streamline processes, lower operating costs, and increase customer satisfaction. Such applications require mission-critical networks that accommodate voice, video, and data traffic, and these networks must be scalable to support increasing numbers of users and the need for greater
This system connects, accumulates, processesas well as provides imperative information to all parties thus enhancing continuity in the procurement process. However, if valid output is to be expected, features as well as requirements of the procurement process must be compatible to current system technologies (Giner, et al, 2011). The harmonization of suppliers as enhanced through the adoption of electronic sourcing enables firms to readily identify new potential suppliers for specific needs when old suppliers` capabilities are in question. The adoption of E-tendering that supports sending requests of pricesand information to suppliers as well as receiving suppliers responses improves on procurement efficiencies as it leads to significant cost reductions thus leading to better procurement performance through cost savings. For this system to achieve desired results however, all users must beready and willing to adopt the new systemsso enable seamless adoption and consequently ensure optimal
