When children are growing up, they often wonder why their friend’s parents act differently than theirs. Some might even complain to their parents by saying “But my friend’s parents let her do that” or “My friend’s parents bought him/her this toy”. Although, it may be hard to explain to your child why it is important for you to say no to something’s, it will be better for them in the long run. Some parents may not realize but everyday things such as food choices, toy or games they play with and the responsibilities they have at home can affect their lives forever and they will pass on the things you taught them to their children one day. That is why it is important for parents to take a long time to think about what they are exposing their children too, before it is too late.
The health of a child should be the most important thing in a parent’s life from the moment they realise they are pregnant, because we always want our children to outlive us. Personally, democratic parents are able to recognize health foods are the obvious choice but still allow snacking on special occasions. An authoritarian parent might only allow healthy food in their home, which in today’s society is highly unrealistic because almost every type of food has some sort of harmful substance that were used to make it. Their strict rules may also cause the child to act out and eat junk food. If a child is raised in a permissive parenting household, their parents might not have any rules on what foods they should eat or how much, which could cause they child to have health issues. A child that grows up in a democratic household would know that healthy foods are the obvious choice if they want to live a long life but also knows that junk food and fast food rest...

It is important for parents to make the wise choice when it comes to the health, toys and responsibilities of their child. The choices they make for their child when they are young will reflect on who they become later on in life. The right foods, toys and amount of responsibilities will motivate your child to do the best they can in life, without over pushing them or under pushing them. Children need to know that their parents are their best friends and will only do what is best for them. The best thing you can do for your child is to stand by their choices and motivate them to the best of your abilities.Encouragement is the best action for a healthy child.

There are certain characteristics of parents who influence their children’s moral behavior. The first characteristic are warm and supportive parents, parents who also involve their children in family decisions, parents who models morally thinking and behavior, and finally parents who inform their children of what behaviors are acceptable, expected and reasoning behind. An example of these parents’ characteristics’ can be when a child is upset because their sibling has taken their toy from them. A parent with the above characteristics will talk to the children on their level, ask open-ended questions, and talk about solutions for their issue. The parent will also voice own opinion on what is the acceptable thing to do, and explain why that is. These four characteristics are sort of strategies’ that are excellent for parents to utilize in order to foster their children’s moral development. Parents who are warm and supportive tend to have a secure attachment to their children which is the base for creating a positive parent-child relationship, without that, parents cannot model behavior to the child, as the child will not trust in the parent. In current time, children often disregard their parents’ orders. This disrespect has greatly increased since the 1930s. Children presently disobey their parents on a regular basis and this is considered normal. Respect for their parents has greatly diminished from the past. Parents’ authority over their children is much less apparent now than it was in the 1930s. Parents must commit themselves to their role in society and make parenting a priority. The future is bleak in regards to any improvement in how well children respect their parents, unless something is done to change how children view their parents’ authority.
It is apparent that living an unhealthy lifestyle, as well as eating poorly, negatively affects one’s health. From a young age it is quickly learned which foods are considered healthful as opposed to junk food. It is a parents responsibility to supervise the intake of their child's food, however there is a higher risk than ever before of childhood obesity.
Parents always want what is best for their children. They strive to provide for them, teach them, and to watch them grow into healthy, loving individuals. Despite this many parents continue to foster a habit that may prevent the goal of good health, unhealthy eating. Americans today consume too much fat, sugar, and food in general and its shows; rates of obesity and weight/diet related diseases such as diabetes are extremely high. A child’s proper growth depends greatly on their nutrition and health. A healthy diet is essential to the developing child. Food should never be used to reward, punish, or bribe a child. Instead children should have three healthy meals with snacks in between. It is also important for children to have good self care behaviors (including bathing, washing hands, brushing teeth), and adequate sleep.

Lastly discipline is another very important responsibility. The best thing to do is to pick your battles, because if you are constantly saying “no” your child will tune it out. You also have to be consistent. For example, you can’t let your child eat candy before dinner one night and then tell them not to the next night, you will be sending them mixed signals.
