I mold my passion into zealous dreams and single-mindedly pursue them. From the early days of tinkering with my mini mechanic set to the recent ones of improving the efficiency of solar cells, I have pursued varied interests, with my learning graph seeing a continuous positive increase. Every single conquest has carved its niche into my personality and helped me identify my career path. Art is an exacting field. It demands precision, tolerance and imagination. I learned patience and dedication when I bent over drawings and portraits for years, while trying to match them perfectly with the picture in my mind's eye. Several hours of practice a day for many years on vocal and instrumental music made me realize the benefits of hard work and perseverance. I stepped out of my comfort zone with theater and tapped my creative potential. Learning different speech patterns transformed me into an articulate presenter. Reading and writing continually helps to increase my acumen and express my thoughts in a cogent manner. I have developed a strong fondness for the physical sciences because of a penchant for intriguing physics and mathematics problems. After ranking in the 98th percentile in the Karnataka Common Entrance test for aspiring engineers, I chose to study in the undergraduate program in Mechanical Engineering at the MS Ramaiah Institute of Technology, Bangalore. I enjoyed every course in the program, applying myself intensely by attending many workshops and seminars held at my college as a student member of the Society of Mechanical Engineers, participating in visits to different industries arranged by the institute and taking up internships and projects at every opportunity. I was particularly attracted to the subjects Applied The... ... middle of paper ... ... Anthony Jacobi and John Georgiadis and find some of my goals coinciding with theirs. I hope to become a dynamic member of student organizations like the Student Sustainability Committee, which takes an active interest in improving the sustainability of processes within the campus and sponsors projects in this field. I also see an opportunity to interact with the staff at research institutes like the Illinois Sustainable Technology Center and hope to do a project with them. The solutions to some conundrums lie within the problems themselves. Most renewable energy processes leave plenty of scope for improving their working efficiency. I believe that the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign will equip me with the tools to chip away at redundant details and reveal the inner solution intact. I look forward to being a part of the UIUC Community in the near future.
The arts play a tremendous role in sculpting a human being in a positive way, by sharpening one’s thinking process in order to allow one to pay closer attention to detail. How? Well, to begin, participating in activities such as drawing, painting, singing, story-telling, etc. strengthens the synapses between brain cells. For those who do not know, a synapse is a “structure that permits a neuron to pass an electrical or chemical signal to another cell”. By developing skills of critical thinking and paying special attention to detail through studying arts and music, it awakens the right side of the brain along with the left side, which is the logical side, and by having a strong brain working in harmony rather than only strengthening one side, it will allow for greater success in any desired field.
Humans have all sorts of traits, good and bad. But sometimes these traits can doom the world. Stephen King’s Doctor Sleep is a story about a psychic man and girl fighting against a tribe of immortal beings, living off steam that telepathic children give off. By examining Stephen King’s novel Doctor Sleep, one can see that wrath, cowering, and selfishness are human traits which will condemn out society. These traits illustrate a destructive element in mankind in the society of the story.
In addition to my academic interest, I also draw, paint, and sculpt in my free time and have taken classes dedicated to this interest. While most might not feel as if that sets them apart, I have used my creativity and abilities in the fine arts to my advantage. My creative edge allows me to carry out creative solutions to problems and labs in class that most others might not realize as a solution. Because of art, I have developed the mindset of analyzing problems by looking at the bigger picture and not only looking at the problem in real life but theoretically.
Because each art discipline appeals to different senses and expresses itself through different media, each adds a special richness to the learning environment. Arts help people Learn to identify, appreciate, and participate in the traditional and non-traditional art forms of their own communities and the communities of others. Art teaches us how to be imaginative, creative, and reflective. Different art forms help us develop the verbal and nonverbal abilities necessary for lifelong learning. The intellectual demands of the arts help us develop problem-solving abilities and such powerful thinking skills as analyzing and evaluating. Numerous studies point toward a consistent and positive comparison between concrete education in the arts and student achievement in other subjects. A program in arts education would engage students in a process that helps them develop the self-esteem, self-discipline, cooperation, and self-motivation necessary for success in life. Most important, the arts should be experienced and studied for their own true value.
In thinking about my interest in art and the idea of studying to be an art therapist, I realized that it all started as both a hobby and a skill when I was really young. I loved to draw my favorite superheroes, video game, Disney, and anime characters, films, and song artists while growing up. I also drew images based on observations from personal experiences or looking at picture books.
Throughout high school I have dreamed of having the opportunity to attend Indiana University. I have a true passion for babies. I love to learn how babies are developed and how they become such an amazing part of the world. Therefore, I would like to apply to Indiana University and pursue a degree in Pediatric Nursing. I would love to be able to deliver babies and deliver new life into this earth. There are several opportunities available for me to get involved with new leadership opportunities. I want to be able to be a leader for all age groups.
Art has always been a large part of my life. As a young girl, I always looked forward to receiving kits for watercoloring or a new set of colored pencils. I’d doodle on my papers in class to pass the time. I yearned for opportunities to express my creativity even doing so on poster board projects where I’d spend hours creating borders and framing my information with various colored papers. However, it was not until I began to take art courses at the high school did I recognize the value that creativity and art hold as a means of learning and expression. Through this recognition, it also occurred to me that not many outside the art room view art in the same light. If I brought up the topic, I usually received mixed reactions. For the most part,
Possessing the basic knowledge in the field of physical sciences and the intuition in them made me to pick up Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry as my majors for the Higher Secondary Education. After the completion of my secondary education, I felt that engineering was the only field which can transform and transfer my dreams in the field of sciences into a real one and also it would give me an opportunity to learn and explore how the fundamentals of science are appl...
While I was in high school, not only was I an active volunteer in several activities such as food drives and helping those in need, in addition to community work, but also I became invested in engineering sciences due to my perceptions regarding the importance of electrical engineering to an emerging industrial country such as mine. Therefore, as I was to graduate soon, I decided to specialize in this science as a student and future professional. Fortunately, through my undergraduate studies, not only did I found the science to be highly intriguing and vast giving way access to endless disciplines, but I have also found that it is very much correlated to numerous other sciences. This observation prompted me to further delve in my studies to become one day a well-informed engineer.
Art Education is not always valued in school settings. Although some may see it as an unnecessary use of school funding, there are many who believe it is beneficial to students in more ways than one. There are many different studies that have been conducted to test the effects that art education has on school-aged children. Some studies have proven that art education can help students to improve in other academic areas. In a journal article from Ohio State University’s “Theory in Practice,” Karen A Hamblen states, “There are linkages between art learning and learning in other subjects areas and that art study can promote creative behaviors, critical thinking skills, and academic achievement.” It has also been found that the arts can teach children better self-regulatory strategies, and even foster more confidence and self-efficacy in school which relates to confidence in academics. Overall, art education in schools has been very beneficial and has proven to ignite creativity, confidence, critical thinking skills, and academic achievement in students.
Scientific methodology, analysis and reasoning has had a significant impact in shaping my approach and developing a different learning aptitude towards academics; this soon flourished into a more specific interest in science. I got interested in electronics during my high school years itself when I was introduced to the topic of Circuit Theory in Physics. Hence to pursue undergraduate studies in a reputed college of engineering of India with electronics as my major became an obvious choice for me. Determined to go after the same, I prepared myself for the fierce competition. Two years of focused preparation fetched me a position in the top 0.3% among 1 million potential candidates in the national level engineering entrance examination- All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE), 2010 and a place in the desired branch of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) at one of the premier institutes of technology of India, National Institute of Technology (NIT), Trichy.
For example, to bring a dependable and willing to learn outlook to my future, as well as, learning a new skill to improve myself and employment skills. Provide an opportunity for myself to remain headstrong while going into college. I am a visual learner as well as a hands-on person when learning new skills and new things as I grow. What I need, are the basics to help and develop my skills properly in art.
The arts have influenced my life in amazing ways. Throughout my life, art has been the place I run to and my escape from the world. As I’ve grown older, art has become so much more than that. Every piece of art I create is a journey into my soul. It’s a priceless way to deal with my emotions and my struggles. I create art not only because I enjoy it and because I want to, but because I have to. Somewhere deep inside there is a driving force, urging me to put my heart down on paper. I become emotionally attached to each of my pieces because they are like dashes on the wall marking my growth. Each one is the solution to a problem I have dealt with and overcome.
Firstly, it enhances students creativity by allowing them to make a self-expression. In most art programms, students are asked to create a painting that represents memory or compose a new rhythm for a piece of music. When students are taught to think creatively, it helps them in their future career. This is certainly allows them to carry over into their education and other parts of life—as this is surely a valuable skill in their adulthood. Seventhly, perseverance whereby the students will be asked to develop new skills and work through difficult projects during the career. Eightly, focus whereby when students persevere through painting, singing or learning in a play, focus is
“Knowledge, experience and the quality education are the best accomplishment in the race of life” is the statement in which I strongly believe and I forever yearn to have that. What is innovative today is obsolete tomorrow. We need to constantly streamline and upgrade our tools and resources. I believe that only an in depth study and an extensive research in my field of interest will help me to achieve my goal. I live in a world of changing times where technology is constantly engineering better lives. Brought up in a liberalized, humane and a capriciously technically charged environment, I see myself being a consistent part of constant changes around me. Today, my thoughts and aims in life spring from and centre around the world of Electrical Engineering.
