Animal Testing- Is it Right or Wrong?

Everyday, people all around the world use facial products, receive vaccinations and take antibiotics or medications that have been previously tested on animals. Rarely people think about whether or not animals have been tortured to use the products that they are using, but simply only think of themselves and their own well-being. “An estimated 26 million animals are used each year in the United States for scientific and commercial testing” (ProCon.org). Innocent creatures are taken advantage of, for the sake of human health. According to both secular and Jewish sources, animal testing is very unethical. The use of animal testing is wrong, cruel and inhumane towards animals and should be stopped.

Humans have needs, and so do animals; we are all living things. Each day most drink and eat when they desire, and are free to move from place to place. Animals who are used to be tested on do not have this freedom, which most of us humans do. Firstly, according to Humane Society International, the animals used for testing are not treated well, as they are not given the food, water and sleep in appropriate quantities needed to live healthy lives. People have more control, so it is important to provide animals with their needs, or that they are left free to find their necessities themselves, but when they are trapped and being used, this task is impossible for them. On top of that, the animals are tortured. Though animals are unable to communicate with humans, they in a sense, have no voice. This makes the situation worse as the animals are unable to stand up for themselves.
