History History of Hilton hotel has been very interesting as it started as Mobley Hotel in year 1919 a small building. Because, when the company started it had no plans or ideas of expanding, the sole purpose was to serve as a place for the travelers to stay where they can comfortably enjoy a night or few and carry on towards their journey. After twenty-seven years of business and hard work, this small hotel went nationally in eleven states within United States, known as Hilton. My group previously visited the Sheraton Hotel for our first interview with the front desk manager and it went very well. We decided to keep with the same hotel for our next interview, but due to a last-minute cancellation from the housekeeping manager we were not able to complete the interview. Due to this situation, I will be talking about a whole different hotel - G6 Hospitality. The name G6 Hospitality refers to the hotel brands – Motel 6 and Studio 6. I chose to G6 Hospitality because it is a well-known company that I wanted to know about more in-depth. From all my research, I have gained a lot of insight on what G6 Hospitality is all about.

The question that needs to be addressed is quite simple. Hilton considers their greatest asset is their frequent guest program. What happens when another company ups the stakes? Jeff Diskin, head of Hilton HHonors, needs to determine if competing with Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide Inc. is the best option? Starwood has implemented a program to increase its customer base within the hotel service industry. This step would not only increase the benefits for customers but also increase the expenses incurred by Starwood. Hilton Group has to analyze the situation and act in an appropriate manner by introducing the same kind of loyalty program, competing point for point or by choosing a different tactic as compared to Starwood, which would let Hilton stay diverse.
Founded in 1919, Hilton Worldwide has remained a beacon of innovation, quality, and success. What Hilton Worldwide calls their mission statement imposes its worldwide high status: “We will be the preeminent global hospitality company - the first choice of guests, team members and owners alike.” Fierce competition, however, does currently exist among hotel corporations within the market. Marriott International, Hilton’s main competitor, currently stands as the third-ranked world leader within the industry (according to hospitalitynet.org), coming in after Hilton. Other competition faced by Hilton comes from Wyndham Worldwide, Starwood Hotels and Resorts, and Best Western, to name a few. Affiliated with ten different hotel brands, Hilton Worldwide provides its guests with the advantage of choosing from any one of their 4,000 operating hotels located throughout 90 different countries. This has evidently contributed to Hilton Worldwide becoming one of the top leaders (ranked second to be exact) in the hospitality industry, despite their competition. The vision of Hilton Worldwide is “to fill the earth with the light and warmth of hospitality.” As the modern luxury hotel, Hilton has created a prestigious heritage with a modern attitude. The values of Hilton Hotels are stated uniquely, giving one value to each letter that constitutes the word for the hotel brand. “H” stands for Hospitality– “We are passionate about delivering exceptional guest experiences”; “I” stands for Integrity– “We do the right thing, all the time”; “L” stands for Leadership– “We are leaders in our industry and in our communities”; “T” stands for Teamwork– “We are team players in everything we do”; “O” stands for Ownership– “We are the owners of our actions and dec...

One of the biggest losses was in 2010 when Hilton’s debt restructuring had created a lose of $180 Millions for the Federal Reserve Bank ( Guerrera). Three years later, in 2013, Hilton was faced with a different financial problem which was the bond debt of $2.5 Million that made Hilton used their reverse funds and occupancy tax to pay off the interest (Reutter). And then the next year, In 2014, Hilton lost $5.6 Million instead of the plan of making $7 Million in profit ( Broadwater). Despite those problems in the last five years, Hilton revenue still increased steadily throughout the years. Hilton is using different POS systems to control and manage their business depending on the brands. They mostly use Agilysys POS system for their luxury brands such as Waldorf Astoria Hotel and resort and Curio resorts. They also use Micros POS systems from Oracle company for a lot of their other hotels such as Embassy Suites, etc. Having popular and good POS systems, they can control their businesses in any hotels easier and faster. In the financial report of 2016, they said that they want to focus more on management, franchise and timeshare. By the end of 2016, Hilton had been franchising 4,175 hotels with 573,404 rooms. By doing franchising, they can collect the fee from their franchisees which include application fee, royalty fee, monthly program fee and quality assurance program cost which brought them a lot of profits and also helped expanding their brands. Beside franchising, they also focused on hotel and timeshare management, which they also collected a certain fee: a base management fee, incentive and monthly fee. For hotel and timeshare management, Hilton has more benefits since the owners pay for all the other necessary fees and charges which including operation fee and other

Despite my refining on the job experience, that allowed me to explore the various departments and requirements of the everyday job, I had never elaborately researched the prospects of working and skills and requirements required in the Hotel Management industry; and this Is exactly what I aim to accomplish with this report.
