ABSTRACT
During a recent company meeting, we discussed the benefits of substituting a synthetic based motor oil for the conventional petroleum based oil now used in our new production vehicles. This report investigates the advantages and feasibility of using synthetic oils.
Several oil manufacturers, as well as top engineers and engine builders, have submitted first hand information on this topic and strongly support the use of synthetic oil.
The use of this product will benefit our company in may ways, Singlehandedly, synthetic oils will boost power and fuel economy of every one of our vehicles, giving us high marks with prospective buyers of new vehicles as well as environmental agencies. This product is economically advantageous, not just to initially implement, but also on a long term basis. Synthetic oils release less contaminants to the atmosphere, are changed less frequently and protect an engine much better than conventional oils.
I recommend the immediate change to the use of synthetic motor oil for our new vehicles. The future lies with the best available technology, and synthetic oils are vital in keeping this edge.
2.0 INTRODUCTION
Synthetic oil is a man made motor oil for use in almost every kind of internal combustion engine. Its material properties enable it to provide better fuel economy, more power and give off less contaminants to the atmosphere. It is recommended that all of our new vehicles use synthetic oil. Laboratory tests and scientific fact, as well as testimonials from famous engineers and engine builders, all confirm the superiority of these oils. In this report I will discuss the capabilities and properties of synthetic oil. I will also cover their economic and other beneficial advantages over conventional petroleum based oil that is now used.
3.0 BODY
Today, the product undergoing considerable scrutiny is synthetic oil. After all, your old Chevy went over 100,000 miles on regular old 30 weight oil, so why take a risk on some man-made snake oil that might ruin your engine? These were probably legitimate concerns when synthetics first hit the market over a decade ago. But like anything else technical, synthetic oils have advanced and keep advancing all the time. Would your opinion of synthetics change if you were told you car's engine and drivetrain might last three times as long if you used them?
The backbone of powertrain protection is proper lubrication and minimized heat.
In the future the automotive industries will need alternative fuel sources, in turn that means they will need alternative engines in their automobiles. The engines found in their cars will have to be changed to fit the new fuels being made. They have many directions in which they can go concerning engine types and fuel types.
By lowering the costs of these now expensive vehicles, this could dramatically be considered a necessary purchase that could enhance the environment.
Fuel efficiency in automobiles has become a topic of much discussion in recent years in the United States. This is due largely to the environmental devastation that fuel emissions cause, but it is also sparked by the rising fuel costs. Making cars with high fuel efficiency not only saves consumers money, but also will drastically reduce the pollution that is caused by emissions. Today automakers are putting a tremendous amount of effort into making their cars more fuel efficient, both to meet government regulations and to make their car more appealing to the consumer.
For over 100 years, the automobile industry has relied on gasoline as its main source of fuel. Gasoline is a colorless, highly flammable substance used in internal combustion engines. It is a fossil fuel made from crude oil, a natural gas formed from the remains of ancient plants and animals (Webster‘s Dictionary). Gasoline has positively influenced our way of life by providing convenient, on demand transportation. It has created a global economy that moves people and goods faster and more easily than ever imagined (Povey 12). Although a seemingly perfect substance, it has unprecedented flaws. The tremendous political, environmental, and economic problems resultant from the excessive use of gasoline leads to the conclusion that the automobile industry should not continue to rely on this source of fuel.
The ecologists are of the opinion that the racing industry is an unnecessary burden for the society, that it does not serve any purpose. But the fact is that the racing industry is just like any other industry that is driven by diesel fuels like car manufacturing and airplane development. If these two consumer goods are considered an important part of human technological innovation, there is no need to sideline the racing industry. On the basis of this, we can also say that using biofuels for racing is preposterous because the biofuels cannot give the thrust that the racing cars need in order to compete. Biofuels are not of high-octane in nature; diesel fuels are. Biofuel cannot be characterized as an energy rich fuel. Using biofuel instead of diesel fuel will negatively impact the performance of racing cars, leading to heavy losses for the racing industry (The Royal Society 08).
Automotive gasoline and gasoline-oxygenate blends are used in internal combustion spark-ignition engines. These spark ignition engine fuels are primarily used for passenger cars. They are also used in off-highway utility vans, farm machinery and in other spark ignition engines employed in a variety of service applications.
With new diesel technology in today’s world, I think people should consider trying or using new diesel cars and trucks as well as the use of clean diesel.

Crude oil is then arranged and categorized into segments by fractional distillation. Raw crude oil, or unprocessed crude oil, is not normally beneficial in most industrial applications.
