Abortion Procedures in Abort73

The American culture is addicted to and repulsed by graphic violence. Ratings soar on news stations when a mass murder occurs. People speak of how terrible it is, and yet, their eyes are fastened to the television set. The author, who will be referred to as ‘Abort73’, uses this disgust of mass death to support the idea that abortion and the procedures used, are evil. For many, abortion is a political issue only, not a moral issue of high importance. Like most political issues, it is clouded in partisan debates and logical fallacies. Abort73 writes to bring the debate out of all the fog and describe the actual medical procedures that are used to terminate a pregnancy, effectively engaging the audience.
Who is this audience? The website this article appears on, Abort73, targets a younger population: high school to college age students. The use of modern videos, apparel, and cute car stickers all suggest this. The goal of the website is ultimately to end abortion by educating people about abortion, in all its terrible details. Every article, picture, video, or shirt aims at ending abortion in this way, each doing so in a specific way to a specific audience. The article “Abortion Procedures” has a particular audience within the broader audience of whole website.
The level of detail the author uses in this article means that this is not written primarily to persuade indifferent people (they probably would not read a lengthy article on a topic they don’t care about). This is written with abortion advocates in mind. The author makes it very clear throughout the article that abortion involves horrific violence toward a human being:
The NAF reports that "Bierer forceps are the weightiest and largest-jawed [with] fenestrated and sharply ...

...werful. To be able to understand the procedures that are used to terminate a life is very important for all involved in the abortion debate. This topic is so often without scientific argumentation, and the author of this article brings some of these arguments into the light. The author engages his audience effectively by presenting abortion ‘unfiltered,’ as the tagline for the website says. Unfiltered, something the youth of America want to see in friends, family, and politicians. Transparency is demanded. Abort73 delivers on this demand, and if abortion is the mass murder of children, the greatest thing Abort73 can do is present abortion unfiltered so that something can be done.
