A sigh of relief: Obama's Speech on the death of Bin Laden

Nearly a decade ago Americans experienced one of their worst attacks on their own land. Ever since that day Americans have been in Iraq, Pakistan, Iran, and other neighboring countries looking for the leader of the attacks, Osama Bin Laden. On May 2, 2011 America finally killed this man. This man who left parents childless. This man who created orphans out of children. This man who widowed men and women. This man who devastated a nation and every family in it. This man has now been killed and justice has been brought to the entire country. Our current president, Barack Obama, gave a speech to the people of America which made them remember how they felt that day when Bin Laden got what he wanted; through relaying events that lead to Osama’s death, Obama gave a speech that made Americans feel safe again and have faithful in their own country. Through pathos, repetition, and anecdotes, Obama obtains the focus of all Americans, those for and against him, to remember September 11th and to inform them of the justice that has been served while also attempting to gain approval for the election of 2012.

September 11th, 2001: planes hijacked, towers collapsing, smoke, fire, confusion, death. September 11th is a day that no American who was alive could ever forget. George W. Bush, president at that time, determined that a war with Al- Qaeda would be the greatest option at that time, and most Americans agreed. The war in Afghanistan started on October 7, 2011; America sent troops to Afghanistan which later spread to Iraq, Iran, Pakistan, and other neighboring countries that could possibly lead us to the capture of Bin Laden (Source.2). ...actions taken by Obama our country is finally able to sigh in relief because it is no longer threatened by Bin Laden.
