Labiaplasty refers to the plastic surgery procedure that is designed to change the shape, asymmetry and/or size of the labia. The labia are the lips that surround the vagina. There are two sets of lips surrounding the vagina, the labia major, which are the large, outer lips and the labia minor, which are the small inner vaginal lips.
The decision to have breast reconstruction is a personal one. Getting as much information as possible is the first step in making this decision. Knowing how this procedure is done is part of that investigative process.
In the early 1980’s breast implants began gaining popularity, but they have been on the market since the early 1960’s. They were invented by plastic surgeons Cronin and Gerow. Dow Corning began manufacturing them commercially in 1962. Today over two million women have undergone breast augmentation surgery. There are many negative consequences that may arise from the surgery, and there is always the risk of infection or rupture. When beginning my research on the subject I assumed there would be a plethora of information. I was shocked to find out that there wasn’t. Silicone breast implants have been around for 40 years and there have been very few studies on their consequences, and possible effects on a woman’s body. The Food and Drug Administration has never approved the use of silicone implants. It is a surprising fact, because silicone implants are still being used today, but only by women who agree to be in a study of their safety. The politics surrounding breast augmentation are sketchy for lack of a better word. They have been promoted as being safe, yet their safety has never been fully questioned. While looking online, I found a variety of websites on the subject. There were many websites from the plastic surgery industry promoting breast implants as being safe. Then there were the websites like http://www.siliconeholocaust.org, this was by far the most disturbing site I have ever seen. There were dozens of pictures of real women who had their lives ruined by breast implants. If these, and other women had the little information that is available on the subject, they may have opted not to have the surgery because of the unnecessary consequences they now suffer.
In 2010, breast cancer was the most common cancer in Australian women (excluding non-melanoma skin cancer), accounting for 28.0 per cent of all new cancers in women (AIHW, 2014). It affects an essential part of female self-consciousness, and therefore causes a wide range of psychological traumas (Teymouri et al., 2006). Patients recently diagnosed with breast cancer are distraught with concerns not only about surviving their disease but also about how its treatment will affect their body image and self-image (Djohan et al., 2008).
Shortly after the horrific death of Donda West, son Kanye West appeared on the Dr. Phil show to discuss the risks of getting plastic surgery. Donda died the following day after a tummy tuck and breast reduction surgery. Her plastic surgeon, Dr. Jan Adams is to blame. In another case, young Lori also went under the knife of Dr. Jan Adams and also appeared on the Dr. Phil show after a frantic experience. In Lori’s case, she wanted to fix one implanted breast because it was unusually saggier than her other breast. Dr. Adams knew what needed to be done to correct the problem. However, that’s not exactly what happened. Following the surgery, Lori experienced a terrible pain, and noticed that her chest had been greatly damaged. She also noticed that her left breast was much bigger than her right. When Lori confronted Dr. Adams about her problems he just looked at her and laughed. After seven long years of excruciating pain, Lori finally went to see another doctor to have the surgery redone. During the surgery, the doctor realized that there was something in Lori’s breast that was foreign because as he was cutting, his tool started smoking and the smell was horrific. Lori’s doctor found a piece of a sponge left behind from Dr. Adams surgery seven years ago, and the horrid smell was due to an infection that has increased greatly over time. Luckily, the infection hadn’t yet been life threatening. There are many risks of getting plastic surgery, especially when it is performed in other countries.
In society today, people look at beauty as a tall, skinny model or a tan, muscular man. It has brain washed the world to believe that in order to look beautiful, they must look like the images that are seen in the media. Today’s celebrities who are famous for their appearance also encourage the belief that thin is beautiful. These images are all over the media right now and have been for many years. With all of these images that are seen everywhere, a person feels obligated to look just like the people of Hollywood so they turn to cosmetic and/or weight loss surgery. Although cosmetic surgery can improve one’s self-image, it can also have a lot of disadvantages which can lead to many risks, even death.
The words plastic surgery ignite certain thoughts into people’s minds. One may think of a celebrity such as Kylie Jenner or the constant rise in breast augmentation. Typically most people do not have the desire to surgically alter their appearance. Some however, feel the need to enhance their look as a result of insecurity, low self-esteem or bullying. Others have certain role models they look up to and would like to resemble their idol in one aspect or another. Adolescents and young adults are the most influenced by the media. Often times, a teen girl will scroll through her Instagram or even look at models in advertisements and want to look like the women pictured. Even if this means mimicking a certain eye look or hairstyle. Some girls won’t settle for a subtle change and will want to take things farther.
A mastectomy is a procedure that is the removal of the breast. This procedure is usually done because the person has breast cancer. With the patients that have the more extensive disease, they may have to go through hormone therapy, chemotherapy and radiation. The patient may have to in for testing of liver studies, bone, and lung to find out the options of treatment. Blood work, x-rays, ECG, and urinalysis are going to be involved as well. When a patient goes in for this procedure, they will be given general anesthesia. After that the surgeon will cut into your breast and preform one of the following procedures; Radical mastectomy, where the surgeon will remove all of the lymph nodes under the patients arm, and chest muscles. A modified radical
Bariatric surgical procedure is a treatment for weight loss and reduce obesity. There are many types of bariatric surgeries. The vertical banded gastroplasty, laparoscopic adjustable gastric band and sleeve gastrectomy are known as limited procedures because they have the ability to interfere with the volume capacity of the proximal stomach. The biliopancreatic diversion and the Roux-en-Y gastric bypass have an abnormality in absorption as they interfere with normal digestive and absorption of food nutrients.
I think plastic surgery should be banned because bad things could happen during and after surgery and most results are bad and thousands of people are hurt by their results and pay more money to fix it also some die from infections. The risks of Cosmetic surgery
Which person in the whole world didn’t wish at some point in his/her life to go back in time? Whether it was to have another chance to correct our mistakes or grab an opportunity we once let go, we all wish to travel to the past. For some people, it is totally different. They want to go back in time not only to look but to also feel young again; and luckily for these people the solution has been found. Since ancient times people seek self-improvement and plastic surgery which is the reparation, reconstruction or change of body parts using surgical procedures, has never stopped evolving and improving to help them. For the past few decades plastic surgery has been increasing more and more, which raised the debate between those who accept it and those who oppose it and want it to stop especially when it is done for cosmetic rather than reconstructive purposes. Cosmetic surgery should not be trivialized, as it has many benefits and lead to favorable consequences.
Weight loss, in the perspective of medicine, health, or physical fitness, is a decrease of the total body mass, due to a mean loss of fluid, body fat or adipose tissue and/or lean mass, namely bones mineral deposits, muscle, tendon, and other connective tissue. It can occur unintentionally due to an underlying disease or can arise from a conscious effort to improve an actual or perceived overweight or obese state. The search for the ideal weight loss operation began more than 50 years ago because exercise and diet alone is apparently ineffective in treating people with extreme and excessive obesity. Surgical pioneers expanded modern procedures that at first produced malabsorption then constrained volume intake, and finally combined both systems. Discrepancies, adjustments, and revisions of these innovative procedures, joint with concentrated efforts to go after and file results, have led to the growth and progress of modern bariatric surgery. More current research has the hormonal and metabolic effects of these procedures as the central point of view. Such discoveries at the cellular level will help widen the potential machine of weight loss and co morbidity reduction beyond the customary justification of reduced food consumption and malabsorption.
