Proposal Argument

The University of Florida is one of the largest research universities in the nation. Animal testing has played key role medical advancements throughout history but really increase in the last half a century. The relationship between humans understanding animal has been important since nearly 60 % of diseases effect both humans and animals. Animal testing play a key role in the development on new drugs in the medical. Now there about 22 million animals each year being are used in research. So providing safe care of animal is important to provide a safe environment for humans and animals. University of Florida’s IACUC (Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee) control and inspects all of the research animals at the University of Florida. To make sure they follow all of the regulations, policies and standards in place to protect animal welfare by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). The Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee members determine who approval for vertebrate animal research.

The define the problem

The University of Florida is licensed by to keep 1,843 research animals for research purposes. According most recent annual report filed with the USDA, the University of Florida has animals like rabbits, mice, pigs, and primates involved in research. Most of the research animals involved College of Medicine where 276.6 million dollar funding each year for research. Most it goes to help fund research projects to help development new drug. National Research Council Committee (US) site the guidelines for the use of animals in Neuroscience and Behavioral Research in which every inside universities and medical schools, conducting research on animals follow.
