To me, being a nurse is far more than a profession or even a career. Contacting with the lives of others is a royal chest overflowing with metaphorical gold. Whether the help I provide is of great importance or goes unnoticed. The emotion I hold in saying, "I'm going to be a nurse," is immeasurable. Nursing is more than a profession of intellectuality, empathy and compassion. It is a privilege that measures out my values as a human being and the responsibilities granted to me with the precious gift of life. My goal is always to be a Registered Nurse (RN) but circumstances didn't permit and I went for Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) first but my thirst for RN has never faded and led me to join LPN to RN Bridge program. I have set some essential goals based on my experience that I hope to undertake after becoming a RN. The foremost important goal is to attain core qualities that define a successful nurse. A core characteristic needed in the nursing field is teamwork. Working diligently in a team is not only important but it is also significant to seek out help when required. Another important characteristic is the understanding of diversity and the importance of acknowledging and praising the views of others, rather than just judging or ignoring them and considering yourself always better. My second goal is to devote my life to learning. I strongly believe that education doesn’t end at graduation, rather it continues for as long as you are in the nursing profession and as long as u will. Knowledge determines attitude and attitude determines behavior. My goal is to make it a point to stay current on education by taking various courses, attending seminars, obtaining certifications, as well as joining meaningful nursing camps and organizations.
