Norcal Tremors In fourth grade I was 9 years old. At that age I didn't even think of playing sports. I was just like a normal 9 year old. So one day my auntie told me that one of her friends daughters is playing softball for Port City Girls Softball League. Then asked me if I would be interested to play. I answer saying sure I will try it out, so my auntie went and signed me up. So the way that league works is they have a draft to pick their players for their team. Then, the first practice started, I knew nothing about softball so I was brand new at all of it. When it came to one of the next practices one of my older sisters came to watch me and noticed my coach. It was one of her friends! Then my sister told me that one of the players
Of all sports that I have seen I can say with all confidence I never thought softball would be my sport. When I first thought about playing softball I thought I could never do it. Then as I finally agreed to play softball I was completely petrified. I got on the field and the first thing I did was mess up and I messed up bad. I barely could catch a ball here I was standing there watching everyone play like pros. When I got up to bat I hit the ball but the bat vibrated down and swole up my thumb. I was completely embarrassed and immediately was out cause I was too busy freaking out.
Parkinson disease (PD), also referred to as Parkinson’s disease and paralysis agitans, is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that is the third most common neurologic disorder of older adults. It is a debilitating disease affecting motor ability and is characterized by four cardinal symptoms: tremor rigidity, bradykinesia or kinesis (slow movement/no movement), and postural instability. Most people have primary, or idiopathic, disease. A few patients have secondary parkinsonian symptoms from conditions such as brain tumors and certain anti-psychotic drugs.
All throughout high school I played on the softball team. Proceeding the season before where we went undefeated with a district championship, my senior year we were supposed to be unstoppable. We received a few new players to add on to our army and the entire school was counting on our run to state. I was so excited to have an amazing end to my high school softball career, but unfortunately my dream was cut short when we lost in the first round of districts. I did not know that loss would change me the way it did.
I have played baseball since I was 3 years old. Since I have played the sport for so long I have had many ups and downs. Every young baseball players dream is to play varsity baseball when they get to high school. One of the best things that has ever happened to me was starting varsity my freshmen year of high school. Coming from a school that has 200 kids per-grade playing time in sports is very competitive. Working my way to get that starting position was a
It all started on a warm spring day. I went to soccer practice after school just like I do everyday, but today was going to be special I could just feel it. I went up to the fields behind Gardens Elementary where we play soccer for MYSA. There I met my coach and some of my teammates. We all started to warm up. Once we had been warming up for so long my teammates got
Softball has impacted my life tremendously throughout the years. I first started playing softball at a very young age. My dad taught me everything he could about the game. He coached me till I was in the seventh grade. I took his knowledge of the game and tried to teach my other teammates. This earned me a captain spot my junior year. Softball has brought me very close to my dad as well as my coaches and teammates. I love the game so much I volunteered as the sixth, seventh, and eighth grade coach this summer. Coaching these girls the game of softball and some components of life was one of the hardest things I have ever done. I learned how hard it is to coach and teach. I gained a new respect for anyone that has taught me. I didn't realize
During the game playing outfield, I would hear the crack of the bat send a ball flying in the air and I would chase it down to earn ourselves an out for the inning. In the middle of the tough game, coach put me in to pitch. Walking up to the mound, I grabbed the baseball and felt the seams and smoothness of it, I knew I was ready to pitch. I pitched the game of my life striking out six out of the last three innings.
It was my eighth grade year, I had the opportunity to play high school basketball for the first time. I played many times before, but never like this. Not for a team, never with a group of girls aiming toward the same goal. I went into tryouts looking for fun. I wanted to play a game, nothing more. The week came to an end, I made the varsity team, it was nothing more than a title to me at the time. Not until the intense practices, serious locker rooms, and hours upon hours of repetition that I truly understood the meaning behind the name.
70 % of people believe that everyone who trembles has Parkinson. This common confusion for the lack of knowledge affects the lives of many who have the Essential Tremor (ET). The cause, symptom and treatment of ET seem similar to those of Parkinson's but these are in important points completely opposite and it is good to know how to differentiate it.
I was six years old when it happened, it was after my very first baseball game. I never played before which made me nervous, but as I stepped foot on the smooth dirt complex field it became second nature. I remember when it was my turn to bat, I felt a slight pinch on my upper right neck, I thought it was just my nervousness, but once I saw the ball coming straight at me, I knew it was too late to back out. I swung my eyes close, I was scared that the ball might hit my face. I heard the ball hit the bat, I opened my eyes and immediately started running to first place.
Seventh grade was the first year an individual could try out for a varsity team and me being un-athletic had no intention of joining one. School ended at two o’clock and as I walked towards the bus I noticed a
I was very upset, because I wouldn’t be able to play my last 8th grade home game, but I knew they didn’t want me to play for a reason. Even though I knew that I didn’t need to play, I still begged my coach the whole game if I could play just because it would be my last game being able to play. Coach told me no until the very end of the game with two innings left. He finally put me in because we were tied and he wanted us to win. When I went in, we ended up winning the game by one point. This was the best game we had ever played in our whole middle school
When I was 7 years old I was interested in joining a soccer club. Since my school had passed out papers of clubs to join. I decided to go with soccer. I remember going to a park and getting all my things like the soccer ball, knee guards and everything else. This was the start of a very cool experience. I started making new friends that didn’t go to my school. I would go every Tuesday and Thursday for practice. Eventually later on we started to play against other soccer teams. It started off as a season to see who would make it to the tournament. Luckily my team made it and we advanced to the semi-finals. But then I took a hard fall and injured my left ankle which prevented me from playing. But then I attended the next game only to see my team
It was two days before the track meet. The fastest kid on our relay team got hurt and we had a backup in his place. The backup that was put in, was new to middle school track and that eventually would show in the track meet. There was one last practise before the track meet and I wasn't going to be there. This practise was for all the relay runners. It would be the first and only time that the whole relay team would get to run together. I never got to see how the person behind me would handoff but that never affected the team.
When I was 11 years old we had just finished the regular season for baseball, and after we won our district we were on to state. At state we were the smallest team by far but we still knew we were capable
