Nursing is a field that demands for an individual is willing to go beyond professional boundaries when necessary. In the present age, the nursing profession needs to compete to develop themselves and the profession to be able to gain respect and higher level of standard for the profession. Responsibility and role of nursing professionals becoming highly challenging and more refined because of the global health care is evolved rapidly thus nursing professionals have to be more accountable and indirectly involved in the process of decision making ( Holder and Schenthal 2007 ). Therefore it is very important for nurses nowadays to continue to learn in the latest health care knowledge and technology. Holder and Schenthal (2007) also described “Professional boundaries” as the space between the client’s vulnerability and the professional’s power are protected by the limits. It creates a safe bounding between the patient and the nurse based on the patient’s demand while crossing professional boundaries and restrictions may be useful or helpful to the patient or the nurses but yet can cause damage to the other side. Nevertheless, if the nurses are ready to prepare the proceedings of the specific knowledge and skills when faced with many challenges in the medical world, then any constraints or challenges can be overcome easily and safely. Therefore, the author would like to expand on the issue of bedside emergency chest reopen by the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) nurses. Bedside emergency chest reopen should be done by the surgeon or a trained healthcare provider when a patient undergone a post cardiac surgery suffer a cardiac arrest for example temponade , as the impact on performing this procedure can delay death. They will feel worthy and valued in an organization if the NM is able to empower the staffs in making decision or share their power to promote a positive attitude and work environment (Kane-Urrabazao 2006). Therefore it is very important for the organization or the hospital to have a NM with good leadership skills which can influence people and make changes. A good communication skill is needed by the NM in dealing with the organization and it is very vital especially in managing change. Communications plays as a critical factors of both management and leadership. It can contribute to stress, feeling of alienation and lack of recognition or it can help in facilitate positive working relationship.
