Being sick and in the hospital is not something any of us plan. However, it is something that we welcome when we are too sick to be at home with our loved ones. While in the hospital we would like the staff to have our best interest in mind by caring for our physical, mental and spiritual needs. (I use spiritual in this paper to include those that are religious. I do this because most religious people I know claim to be spiritual but not all spiritual people claim to be religious.) Hospital are good about treating our physical ailments but not so much with the spiritual. I believe that the Bible is inspired by God and is the truth. According to the Bible, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16-17). I believe in him, God! The next question asked if I consider myself spiritual or religious? I never consider myself to be religious but as stated above I do believe in God and follow his commandments. I do try to go to church but school does get in the way of my attendance. I seem to almost always have an assignment due on Sundays, I need to study or I have to work. Reading the Bible helps me to stay connected with God through his word. So maybe this would make me spiritual and religious. The last question on faith is, “What things do you believe in that give meaning to your life?” I don’t believe “things” are important in this world or give meaning to my life. My friends, family and pets are important to me. They help me to enjoy my life and my time with them. It is nice to have a car to get to work and school but that is the only meaning it gives me for my life. If I was in an accident, I would care more for the lives involve in the crash than the car. A car can be replaced but a life cannot be replaced. I do enjoy seeing the wonderful things around me that God has made. The wonderful things I am referring to are mountains, rivers, trees, sun, moon and stars. God has created them all and seeing the beauty in them and in people help give meaning to my life.
