It’s a beautiful morning, as my group of friends and I wake up, we hear the pounding and the thrashing of the water slamming on the moss covered granite rock, I go down the eroded leaf covered pathway to fetch water just like I would do every morning, the sun had just begun to rise, the mixture of scarlet red, orange, and a bleach-like yellow beaming against the hurried water of the river that led into the waterfall shone like flakes of gold floating on top of the whitening water. The serene environment of the surrounding rocks overlooking the waterfall, the ambience of water clashing against the granite, and the aroma of the white pine filling the forest is an awe inspiring experience to all who dare make their way down the narrow and lengthy …show more content…

“Hot skillet moving! Hot skillet moving! Hot skillet down!”, I warn my friends in the immediate area. Upon removing my glove for further inspection of my burned hand, I notice the blisters beginning to form on my second degree burn. I sprint down to the river by the waterfall and shove my hand into the wind chilled mountain river water. The pain begins to subside from my hand after a short hour, but as soon as I remove my hand from the water, the inferno of the burn returns to my hand in an excruciating pain, therefore I plunge my hand back in to the comfort of the cold …show more content…

As if signaled by a conductor katydids begin their chirping matching the pitch of the birds in a minuet of the forest. My friends rush down the path to the falls to check on me and my hand, boots stomping and thumping with the crackle of the leaves beneath their feat, creating the percussion for the beautiful minuet. I close my eyes and imagine the conductor bringing all these obscure sounds together and making a lovely melody with the instruments of life. The familiarity of the woods, the natural urges my body has to be outside and be active in the setting that most people in today’s society only truly see in movies, if that, reminds me of other ventures into the woods, the citrusy smell of pine mixed with the smells of wild grasses and various flowers create an unmatched bombardment of scents. These scents stimulate the mind in a calming way unlike any medication or music ever could. The aroma of the forest sends chills down my spine, causing you to get the urge to explore and to absorb yourself in to the natural wonders the human body
