Career Essay: My Career For Mechanical Engineering

My career path started when I was five years old. At five years old I wanted to be a fireman but switched to marines when I was ten. Prior to turning thirteen I did not want to be someone who uses ‘math’ all day and sits at a desk all day. In 2010 I joined a FLL team at Troy Christian Junior High School. I did not want to do this at first but after consistent encouragement from my father and mother, my father has a master’s degree and my mother has a bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering, I participated in all of the team functions. While on the team I was exposed to SolidWorks and I appeared to have a talent for designing 3D models. I also was one of the few members tasked or voluntold to program the robot. I soon realized that not all engineers do math all day and I may have a talent for I entered this position wanting to be an electrical engineer and left knowing I am destined to be a mechanical engineer. I knew I was destined to be a mechanical engineer when I was comfortable with designing and building workstations and my coworker’s comment of my talent for mechanical engineering. I also learned from the CEO that engineers are not limited by degrees or fields and he is living proof that with just a high school education and shop class experience anyone can work for a company or start their own. Because of this example I learned that engineers can adapt to their environment and that mechanical engineering is the foundation of all of the other engineering degrees such as aerospace and manufacturing. In 2015 my boss’s company was given a project that required the project to be completed and at the factory before payment is given to my boss’s company. This project turned into a time intensive and fund consuming nightmare that resulted in the cutting of all inefficient
