Are Tweens Ready for Cell Phones? These passages present a discussion about arguments concerning tween cell phone use. This is an important debate for parents since such a decision can both positively and negatively affect their children. The two positions argue whether or not children ages 10-12 are mature enough to be given cell phones. Both viewpoints have valid claims warranting consideration; for example, evidence indicates that cell phones pose a danger to children within this age range. In contrast, opposing evidences suggests that they do not. While both sides of the issue have valid points, the claim that tweens should not be given cell phones is the best-supported position, the position supported by the preponderance of the evidence …show more content…
As an illustration of this point, a child's parents may feel secure in knowing that their child has a cell phone, that they can call and talk to their child at any time. But, to make a point, this may not always be the case. As an additional point, just because a tween has a cell phone does not fully protect him or her from physical danger. In brief, tweens should not be given cell phones due to the danger inherent in their use and the false security that they provide. The counterargument that tweens should have cell phones has a valid point. For example, cell phones have been suggested as a tool to imrove independence and responsibility. This point, though valid, does not make the most compelling argument. The contention that tweens should not be given cell phones makes the most cogent case. All evidence considered, it is reasonable that the points cited above persuasively support the position that parents should not give tweens cell phones, these points being that children may fall victim to cyberbullying, they may be exposed to websites inapporpriate for their age range, and they may be put in danger. Why does it matter if tweens are given cell phones or not? In order to keep children safe, parents should make a conscious effort to remove as many unnecessary dangers from their child's life as possible. Cell phones represent one of these
In my opinion I agree with Deborah Pendergast and believe that tweens are ready to have a cell phone. One reason is because it helps parents have a sense of security with knowing where their children are at all times. Secondly, it’s a great way to teach children responsibility. Lastly, it could be used as an educational tool.
“Man masters nature not by force but by understanding. This is why science has succeeded where magic failed: because it has looked for no spell to cast over nature”. From the beginning of time man and nature has been in conflict with one another because, as a whole, there is no cooperating. Each one tirelessly wants its way. The Man is fighting for dominance and nature w never yielding its authority. In American Literature, many authors illustrate this theme in their writing. Specifically the writers Jack London in The Law Of Life, Stephen Crane The Open Boat and Mark Twain’s Huckleberry Fin. Each explores the relationship between humans and nature but with slightly different methods. Mark Twain uses nature in a realistic way, Jack London in a naturalistic way and Stephen Crane constitutes a combination of both.
Have you ever felt stuck? Wherever you are, it’s the absolute last place you want to be. In the book Into the Wild, Chris McCandless feels stuck just like the average everyday person may feel. Chris finds his escape plan to the situation and feels he will free himself by going off to the wild. I agree with the author that Chris McCandless wasn’t a crazy person, a sociopath, or an outcast because he got along with many people very well, but he did seem somewhat incompetent, even though he survived for quite some time.

What makes a good person good? According to WikiHow, "We should learn to define our own morals ourselves. One of the simplest ways to do so is to love others, and treat them as you would like to be treated. Try to think of others before yourself. Even doing small things daily will greatly enrich and improve your life, and the lives of others around you." This quote shows us what we need to do in order to be what society thinks as, “good". First, safety is the biggest issue for parents. A kid having a cell phone can call home or emergency services when trouble arises. It also gives the parent the ability to locate their whereabouts with GPS features. Also, if kids are lost, hurt, scared, or witnessing an incident, the phone is there for them. Life is getting more difficult and it is essential for a kid to carry a cell phone with them at all times for their safety and the parent’s peace of mind.
Today’s cell phone is the front line technology at our fingertips. Keeping this in mind the use of cell phones have become an affair when it comes to allowing teens to use them in educational environments, such as schools. One part of society supports the use of cell phones while the other part of society disapproves the use of cell phones. I personally believe that cell phones should not only be allowed in school, but cell phones should be mandatory just like a textbook. Cell phones do not only allow students to stay united with friends and family, but cell phones are also a magnificent learning system, and they boost the liable use of technology.

Children under the age of thirteen and using electronic devices is not a good idea due to their innocence and how easily they can be manipulated. The way irritation is connected to the addictive quality is that it slowly develops a mental illness. Common illnesses include depression, anxiety and frequent anger issues. All of these facts tie together to show how children can be overpowered by cell phones at an inappropriate age. Someone may argue that children with phones would in fact be safer from such things because of the special feature of easy communication. A child could easily call or text an adult or parent they know when they need to. Such as situations when a they need to be picked up from an unsafe area, therefore getting rid of any stress or anxiety levels. Although communication is very important for a young child’s safety, they should not have to constantly depend on their cell phones to relieve them of stress or anxiety. They should feel free to talk with a group of friends or an adult they trust and feel comfortable with. This is one way to quickly form an addictive, yet unhealthy

With the rise of smartphone technology, many parents are letting their children use their smartphones.
